Yes. Have done it regularly.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 19:31

DH is done that so has my boss.

Fridakahlofan · 20/10/2019 19:31

Yes - of course depends on the job! I went their twice as a lawyer.

Littlegoth · 20/10/2019 19:31

Not too unlikely if their organisation has an office there.

Fridakahlofan · 20/10/2019 19:31

There!

LondonBus38 · 20/10/2019 19:31

Yes, also used to do it regularly. And New York for two sometimes three days if I was lucky.

LondonBus38 · 20/10/2019 19:32

Yes, we had offices in both Boston and NY though.

MrsMozartMkII · 20/10/2019 19:33

Y'up. Been to the USA for 24 hours for a meeting (back in the days before Skype and video conferencing). Often went for 2 or 3 days.

RandomMess · 20/10/2019 19:33

Sure it's not Boston Lincolnshire Grin

Perfectly possible either place!

Whataboutthattthen · 20/10/2019 19:33

Yes, I have done this several times. Not very unusual.

DeRigueurMortis · 20/10/2019 19:34

Yes. Done similar many times.

Even did NYC for a 2 hour meeting once and was there and back within 24 hours and utterly jet lagged.

CMOTDibbler · 20/10/2019 19:37

Yup, I went to Vegas for one night (plus overnight flight back) the other week as I had a customer meeting that couldn't be moved and I couldn't arrange anything else for that week. Once I went to Perth in Australia for a one day meeting - that was a bit insane!

thewinkingprawn · 20/10/2019 19:40

Yep used to do it every month for 2 years - sometimes just for a night, sometimes 2!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 20/10/2019 19:41

Yep, my boss and I did Florida for 2 and a half days for work. The jet lag was brutal.

CherryPavlova · 20/10/2019 19:45

My husband hasn’t done Boston but has done Hong Kong. Much longer flights.

Expressedways · 20/10/2019 19:47

Yes. Used to approve travel for a big investment bank and it wouldn’t be our first choice (ideally we’d get our money’s worth out of the flight and send some to NY as well) but it often didn’t work out that way and I’ve seen dozens of trips for 1-2 nights. And we did have an office there, it just wasn’t worth someone hanging any longer than their meeting schedule and unnecessarily costing us money for their hotel stay.

KennDodd · 20/10/2019 19:49

Loads of people do.

I had a friend who used to have to go to India for the day regularly. She'd take an overnight flight there, meetings all day, overnight flight back. Another person I know had to go to Cleveland for a one hour meeting (didn't even last that long) once. Again, didn't even stay one night.

GrumpyHoonMain · 20/10/2019 19:50

Yes. The shorter the trip the more likely it will be for work

KennDodd · 20/10/2019 19:51

Why do you ask?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/10/2019 19:51

I've done it loads of times-

my company expected you to work all day in boston, fly out overnight and be at work in UK the next morning.

We all did it.

Sashkin · 20/10/2019 19:52

Some poor sod is coming over to London from DH’s Toronto office for an 8:30 meeting this week (3:30am Toronto time), then getting on an afternoon flight straight back. I’m not sure what he’ll achieve in person that a Skype call couldn’t achieve better, but the company seem to think it’s justified.

Charley50 · 20/10/2019 20:17

@Sashkin - yes you'd think video conferencing had never been invented.

tappitytaptap · 20/10/2019 20:31

Yes people do it at my work too but agree with someone else about video conferencing... sometimes I think for important clients it’s just to show you are willing to go to the hassle of sending a person out there.

TokyoSushi · 20/10/2019 20:45

Yes I'm a PA and my team do this often, it seems short but they wouldn't stay any longer than the piece of work takes.

Sashkin · 20/10/2019 20:45

Charley50 the stupid thing thing is they do loads of videoconferencing, half of their staff work remotely. Just not this specific meeting for some reason.
