And can you show me your meal plans?

I feel like we’re stuck in a rut of the same meals every week.

Would love some ideas of family friendly meals.

alicewithnohumps · 07/10/2019 15:49

We spend roughly £70 a week and we have set meals
Nando's chicken and spicy rice
Shepherds pie and veg
Chilli con carne with nachos and rice
Hunters chicken and chips
Sausage, chips and beans (DH favourite)
Peppered Steak chips, onion rings and coleslaw

Friday night is take away night.

DH really fussy and DC will always eat chips, rice or mash so this is how glamorous it gets.

I work 3 days a week but do 13 hour days and on those days we have shepherds pie, chilli con carne...both done in slow cooker so it's ready for when I get home at 9pm or Nando's chicken purely because you put it in a bag and stick it in the oven and that's about as much cooking as my DH can do. The rice we buy tilda pouches, tasty and takes 2 mins in microwave.

Not a healthy menu but it works for us.

£70 is including the usual toiletries and cleaning products. If we did a purely good shop usually costs £50 and that's at Aldi

Caspianberg · 07/10/2019 15:52

Probably €100 ish per week

These past few days we have had
Stir fried chinese style rice and vegetables with prawns
Lentil casserole
Black bean burgers, in buns, sweet potato fries.
Roast dinner - chicken, potatoes and vegetables x3
Homemade pizza and salad

PullingMySocksUp · 07/10/2019 15:56

£600 a month FFS. But that includes cleaning stuff, alcohol, toiletries.

This week:

Chicken supreme (chicken and bacon in cream sauce) with ... not sure actually
Pork mince satay and noodles with rice
Meatballs and tomato sauce with spaghetti
Baked chicken tray bake thighs, plane for fussy one and with olives, chickpeas, peppers, tomato etc for non fussy, with wedges
Sausage something
Home made turkey burgers and chips

missyB1 · 07/10/2019 15:58

Coriander chilli chicken breasts with chips and salad.

NumberblockNo1 · 07/10/2019 15:59

My shopping is all over the place so posting for ideas. I think we migt need a rota like the one above.

Potnoodledoo · 07/10/2019 16:05

I spend about 150 euro a week
My kids eat most things.

This week is Duck stirfry
Prawn linguine
Steak with baked spuds and salad
the other 2 days i will be a takeaway and havent decide what the other one will be.

I do it like this cause it saves me the hassle of thinking of dinners.
I write my list on a friday for my dinners the next week

Plus it means the kids cant come in and moan about it.Its written down,so they know what we are having.Usually works well.

Meals are more or less the same each week but on varying nights. So ..

Chili con carne from a batch made in advance and defrosted out of the freezer

Salmon and jacket potatoes, new potatoes or oven chips

Chicken stir fry with noodles or bas rice

Prawn spaghetti (Jamie Italian recipe.. can't remember the posh name for it!)

And maybe a bolognese or a fish pie (Mary Berry recipe)

Sausages and mash

Usually fish and chips from the freezer on Fridays

We rarely have take-out as we can't afford it
