And can you show me your meal plans?

I feel like we’re stuck in a rut of the same meals every week.

Would love some ideas of family friendly meals.

Between £60 and £80 each week although that includes cleaning stuff and toiletries and we're a four adult household (with girlfriends regularly staying at weekends too).

Favourite meals are
Chicken and chorizo jambalaya
Cottage pie
Cajun chicken pasta
Leek, bacon, cheese and potato bake
Thai chicken curry
Stir fry
Chicken casserole
Beef stew
Cheesy taco pasta

I cook from scratch but an Instant Pot really helps.

We spend £60 per week in groceries (family of 2 adults and 3 primary school aged dc) but we also budget £100 in eating out/takeaways as we both work full time and buy lunch out everyday as our main meal during the week.

£100 a week. Two adults, three primary school children and one baby. Some weeks we spend less, some we spend more but £100 is about the average. We mostly shop at Aldi but get a few bits from Morrisons or Tesco too.

We always meal plan. This week we have had pesto pasta, Spanish omelette and it’s roasted veg and cous cous tonight. We almost always have pizza on a Friday, it’s become a bit of a tradition.

Around 90-100 on Ocado, weekly top up of around 30 at aldi. Includes a couple of bottles of wine. 2 kids and a dog.

Menu will be all cooked from scratch, kids eat at CM once a week. Sunday roast chicken, Monday left over chicken and pasta for kids, we might have fish and couscous. Tuesday spag Bol. Wednesday beef and broccoli stir fry with coconut rice, Thursday beef rendang, Friday chicken stuffed with goats cheese and roasted veg. Have quite a few favourite meals but generally try and cook something new at least once a week. It’s a lot of money but it’s one of the things we prioritise.

2 of us...about £500 a month. Plus we eat out twice a week.

theneverendinglaundry · 09/10/2019 12:42

I usually spend around £50 on the weekly delivery and then do top up shops, so probably around £100 a week. This doesnt include cleaning products or toiletries and there are 5 of us.

This weeks meal plan is:

Pasta bake

Veggie Gumbo

Quorn burgers

Kievs

Pizza

Veggie Fajitas

Freezer Lucky Dip

Snog · 09/10/2019 12:58

£60 a week from Ocado
This week we had
Beef stroganoff
Sausage tray bake
Stuffed chicken thighs wrapped in bacon
Salmon steaks and green veg
Sweet potatoes and tallegio
3 Bean chilli and wraps
Leftovers night

Around 120 a week (can be anywhere between 80 and 150 though).
This doesn’t even include cat food loo roll or nappies.
2 adults, 2 teens, 1 preschooler, 1 weaned baby.

This covers all meals, drinks and snacks for all of us. We occasionally get a takeaway or eat out but it’s not a weekly thing, more for a special occasion or if we have guests.

This week’s main meals
Spicy black bean chilli and jacket potato
Pasta bolognese
Parsnip and lentil chunky soup with poppadoms
Chicken and mushroom casserole
Prawn, courgette and pea pasta
Roast pork (roast potatoes, Yorkshires, veg)
Roast chicken, mash, veg

Last week we had
Pork, lentils, veg
Beef stew with cheese and sage dumplings
Burgers with chickpea salad
Chicken stir fry
Halloumi and cashew curry, rice and naan
Steak, dauphinoise, and veg

And something else I can’t remember (which probably means it was out of the freezer)

Our main meals don’t generally cost too much but once I’ve added all the bread, milk, snacks, fruit, salad etc on it gets expensive.
