Anyone awake to speculate wildly with me about whether I'm in labour?

This is baby #2 - my first (now 4) came early and labour / delivery was unusual so don't really feel I have a 'normal' frame of reference.

I'm 38 weeks. Had sex at 10pm-ish for the first time in a long time. Now I'm getting tummy pains and tightenings every so often - though very mild - and wind, nausea, lots of pooing...

Basically I know the answer is "this might be labour, wait and see" but as per thread title I'd like some speculation buddies who are willing to confidently express their unqualified opinions, please. DH is snoring happily beside me but I can't sleep.

Wow!!! Definitely trying that!!

cockingup · 16/10/2019 09:42

DH got home last night very merry and relaxed! He went to sleep while I stayed up timing my contractions....which got up to 6m apart and then stopped!

I'm so fed up of giving everyone false alarms! I guess if I don't go spontaneously today or tonight, I know that I'm getting induced tomorrow morning so this drama can't continue for much longer.

@cockingup on my DD2 I was like this, for a week I was contracting on & off, was brought in to be induced so I just needed the drip as was already contracting etc, an hour after drip started and to the amazement of the midwives DD came flying out! Literally! Said I needed to push, they said no u can't be 10 already, they opened my legs and there was her head! You will fly the induction tomorrow

jokerreturns · 16/10/2019 12:41

You're doing so well being this patient!
Tonight's the night, I can feel it in my bones ... I'm sticking to my 3:10am arrival 🤞

cockingup · 16/10/2019 17:06

@starflake that's a very encouraging story! Did they break your waters or just pop you on the drip? I'm sortof hoping once my waters go it will kick start things without needing a drip...

Can you go in the pool on a drip?

I'm still hopeful for things to brew on their own tonight once I'm home and settled and DD is snugly in bed.

They broke my waters & started drip. She actually came out blue as she came down the birth canal so quick, she winded herself never mind all the midwives ha. It was super easy & the best labour ever. Although as mw said, wasn't easy going through the "slow labour" at home for a week beforehand.
I'm in Ireland so no birthing pools in the hospital I went to, although can't see why you can't once you keep the hand out of the water.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 17/10/2019 07:03

Best of luck today, hope it all goes smoothly!!

GeoffreyAndBungle · 17/10/2019 07:08

I kept scrolling down the thread to see where baby was...... Smile

Good luck for today!

IslaMann · 17/10/2019 07:09

Here we go, friends. I'm going in with a wonderful friend at 9am for my induction.

DH has a half day left to work before he is officially finished in this job, so we're taking a gamble and he's going to try to do it and rush up to the hospital at lunchtime before baby arrive. So we're counting on lots of waiting around and delays before my extremely straightforward and quick labour gets kick started - though if needed he can be there in 20m.

Psyching myself up by spending the morning speculatively narrating myself as though I was a contestant on Come Dine With Me: "proud mother of two, CockingUp...."

Eeek! Good luck OP.

adviceplease321 · 17/10/2019 07:30

Ahh good luck! How exciting!! Nearly there now GrinGrinGrin

starflake · 17/10/2019 07:48

All the best, Hope it's a speedy induction for you X

familyissue · 17/10/2019 08:13

Ah good luck, I wouldn't say you will be long if you already 4cm dilated!

spiderlight · 17/10/2019 10:24

Good luck!

cockingup · 17/10/2019 11:28

Ooooh I'm 5cm and "super stretchy" apparently! The ward is too busy so they won't break my waters yet; I've been sent off to get a Costa and have a wander.

DH isn't answering his phone. LTB?

OP posts:
Borntobeamum · 17/10/2019 14:53

Definitely LTB.
Getting more exciting though! We want updates as they happen you do understand!! 🤣

MerryInthechelseahotel · 17/10/2019 15:01

You would probably get a free Costa if your waters broke just going in! Good luck although it might be over by now x

Someonesayroadtrip · 17/10/2019 15:05

Exciting. How's it going?

Mummy2one2016 · 17/10/2019 15:11

Exciting, hope everything is going well for you OP and baby arrives safely.

LightandShadowsByTurn · 17/10/2019 15:12

I hope DH answered the phone and is now with you.

starflake · 17/10/2019 15:13

Oh the cheek of him not answering! Especially while we all wait in earnest haha.

BUBBLEBATHBISQUE · 17/10/2019 16:03

Big luck!

PurpleViolin · 17/10/2019 16:08

Ditch dh and get us all to come instead
