Anyone awake to speculate wildly with me about whether I'm in labour?

cockingup · 04/10/2019 02:12

This is baby #2 - my first (now 4) came early and labour / delivery was unusual so don't really feel I have a 'normal' frame of reference.

I'm 38 weeks. Had sex at 10pm-ish for the first time in a long time. Now I'm getting tummy pains and tightenings every so often - though very mild - and wind, nausea, lots of pooing...

Basically I know the answer is "this might be labour, wait and see" but as per thread title I'd like some speculation buddies who are willing to confidently express their unqualified opinions, please. DH is snoring happily beside me but I can't sleep.

You're totally 110% definitely completely having your baby today.

Or tomorrow.

Firefly111 · 12/10/2019 07:48

Good luck OP! Hope things pick up soon!!

danni0509 · 12/10/2019 08:34

Nothing further your honours.
He's never coming out, is he?
He'll be in there as a teenager.
I'll have to sit in his Uni lectures with a strethescope backwards on my gigantic middle aged bump .

That's a hilarious thought!

Best of luck for whenever it happens Smile

Hopefully no news means bubba has had his or her birth day today Bear

cockingup · 12/10/2019 12:43

'fraid not.
No news because there's no news!

Believe you me, the MOMENT he pops out I'm going to come triumphantly on here to boast unashamedly.

Has the hospital said how long they will let you go? At 4cm that is fairly far along??

Bloodybridget · 12/10/2019 13:38

We'll want a photo too, you know! Have you got a name? You refer to "him" so assume you know it's a boy? Did you see the thread about going home outfits?!

mogloveseggs · 12/10/2019 13:40

Ah op I reckon tomorrow is the day!

Teachermaths · 12/10/2019 13:42

All the best OP!

tata4now · 12/10/2019 13:45

sockittome123 · 12/10/2019 13:45

Rooting for you OP!

itsgettingweird · 12/10/2019 13:45

Can I add my bet at 20:21 this evening. Grin

Exciting!

ChanklyBore · 12/10/2019 13:48

Hospitals don’t “let” people do things.

I was going to say that I felt like you did in the OP from 28-29 weeks, every night, it was rubbish, baby stayed in there until due date plus 17 days, but birth was very quick.

But I see it has moved on and you have found that out (sorry!) good luck OP I hope the baby comes swiftly and easily for you.

cockingup · 12/10/2019 14:19

To my understanding, I'm meant to just wait for proper labour to kick in - although 4cm does tend to be one of the indicators of 'established' labour, I'm not having the regular contractions and my membranes are still in tact so it's still just the latent phase.

They've booked an induction for Thursday if I make it that far, I'm praying he's here waaaaaaay before then.

Good luck OP.

I predict early hours of the morning things will start speeding up.

MsChatterbox · 12/10/2019 16:51

Good luck! Just joined the thread. Thoroughly excited for you 😁

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 12/10/2019 16:58

Good luck OP. I genuinely thought I’d get to the end a voila there would be a baby..... hope he comes soon for you Flowers

Elieza · 12/10/2019 18:21

An induction on THURSDAY. Omg that’s AGES away. You’ll be well bored and fed up by then. Hope they are jesting. Thursday. Sigh.

Snowflake9 · 12/10/2019 19:19

Have you managed to eat to get your energy levels up? Have you had some sleep.? Try a bit of nipple stimulation to try and bring your contractions on a bit. Your body may be slowing down if it doesn't have the reserves it needs.

I know how frustrating it is. I laboured for 34 hours before I had to have an emergency c section.

Postive and contractive thoughts heading your way!!

Frith2013 · 12/10/2019 19:19

Always good to avoid inductions and other interventions.

Good luck!

MrsMozartMkII · 12/10/2019 19:21

Fingers crossed lass!

flissity · 12/10/2019 19:30

Following and hoping you don’t have to wait too long. 4cm is good!!!

itsgettingweird · 12/10/2019 22:32

I didn't ever even get to 4cm! A whole 48 hours after contractions started, 36 hours after a show and 6 hours after my waters broke I was a whole ...... 1cm Hmm

4cm already despite a non starter is a good sign!

Jump up and down a bit Grin
