@underneaththeash and it's apparently vegans who push their own agenda. Why come on this thread...?

underneaththeash · 27/09/2019 23:02

@Chillisauceboss - I don't have an agenda. I just want children to eat a healthy diet (which a vegan diet doesn't provide at all). Children need certain amino acids and vitamins for their brains and bones to develop normally.

This vegan push is being marketed as being healthy and it's not. Vegan substitutes and gluten-free substitutes are full of crap.

We're going to end up with a (suggestive) section of the population who whilst not obese or diabetic, are going to have osteoporosis and be chronically vitamin B,D and iron deficient. You just do not absorb certain nutrients for supplements in the same way as you do from food.

You just need to eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 28/09/2019 02:17

The dairy free Ben and Jerry peanut butter ice cream is divine. It's actually quite dangerous for me to have it in the house.

Also that biscoff spread might as well be crack as far as I am concerned.

Chillisauceboss · 28/09/2019 08:25

I'm a healthy vegan and so is my child. Focus on your own food and your own family and I will focus on mine

ExecutiveFiat · 28/09/2019 09:42

Love a lot of the products mentioned. I love the B&J peanut butter ice cream. My DD made me a cheese toastie with the new applewood cheese the other day. was very impressed!
i use Swedish Glacé ice cream all the time now as I prefer it to dairy. It’s wonderful to see that Veganism is starting to become mainstream. I have several friends who are veggie, vegan and just eating a lot less meat like me.

I like going into Hotel Chocolat and buying roses and violets, I think they are called. Really nice and vegan too.

QueenWhatevraWanabi · 28/09/2019 10:05

I'm definitely an unhealthy vegan however saying you need animal products to be healthy is a load of nonsense!!

Ricekrispie22 · 28/09/2019 10:24

@ryanreynolds from Asda groceries.asda.com/product/vegan-cheese-alternative/applewood-vegan-smoky-cheese-alternative/1000167816442

Some other vegan products I love:
Gu free from chocolate and vanilla cheese cakes
Morrison’s chocolate vegan cupcakes
Lama Linda Tuno
Nescafé coconut latte sachets www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/304264061

And Cadbury may be making a vegan chocolate bar! www.livekindly.co/cadbury-hints-new-vegan-chocolate-bar/

motorcyclenumptiness · 28/09/2019 11:02

Hmm all that red meat can really make a person aggressive ...
I used to like Good Life nut burger things - very handy to have in the freezer - but I haven't seen them in agesSad

BahHumbygge · 28/09/2019 11:17

What underneaththeash said. There aren't enough nutrients in a vegan diet compared to animal products. And it contains lots of anti-nutritive factors like oxalates, phytates and lectins which impede absorption of vitamins and minerals. Watch vegan deterioration and epitome of malnourishment on youtube, which are video edits from vegan vloggers that they uploaded themselves. Once you see the signs of vegan malnutrition, it shocks you to the core and you can't unsee it. Sunken eyes, pale grey skin (whatever their ethnic background), premature aging, tooth decay, hair thinning, brain fog and decreasing communication ability etc.

SwizzelStick · 28/09/2019 11:23

Half of the vegans on YT have weird self-imposed additional dietary restrictions like no oil, raw food, Juice diets etc. They're hardly a good example of your average vegan. Malnourishment is not exclusive to vegans either. A friend has been vegan for two decades and is incredibly healthy, much more so than me,not that it'd be hard, and looks great, as do other vegans I know.

Redpriestandmozart · 28/09/2019 11:26

That is just a perfect answer, without getting dragged into a debate.. I shall be using that in the future as I hate justifying my choices. All the people who say that vegan food is full of shite forget that most of the junk food they eat is also full of shite!

Back to the original question, loving all the suggestions (taking note)

DrMaryMalone · 28/09/2019 11:32

Growers Garden broccoli crisps. Sound odd but are very yummy and all 4 flavours are vegan. Sour cream and chive are my current favourite. They are available in lots of farm shops, speciality stores and also Selfridges.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 28/09/2019 11:39

I thought this thread was about vegan goodies. Why has it turned into a debate about whether veganism is healthy?

mumderland · 28/09/2019 11:40

Gu cheesecakes 🤤 I'm gluten free too so they're a great treat

ExecutiveFiat · 28/09/2019 12:19

For the couple of posters with an agenda, nobody is interested. This thread is about vegan goodies. I’m not going to engage with them. They’re obviously trying to derail..
Loving all the recommendations on here.😀

It was until the hamsplainers arrived

HugsAreMyDrugs · 28/09/2019 13:26

The OP isn't even a vegan so not sure why it matters if it's healthy or not...

lastqueenofscotland · 28/09/2019 13:30

I generally eat very very well, home cooked meals, over five portions of fruit and veg a day and 10,000 steps is a lazy day for me. So if I want to indulge in some vegan junk I will do

I am OBSESSED with Greggs vegan sausage rolls, the Morrison’s ones are nice too.
The Asda vegan cupcakes are also very very nice.

lastqueenofscotland · 28/09/2019 13:30

Oh and yes to the new vegan gu!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/09/2019 14:08

Greggs vegan sausage rolls are brilliant.
The Alpro dark chocolate pot desserts are really nice.
Sainsbo's Shroomdogs

SwizzelStick · 28/09/2019 14:19

What are the best Shroomdogs? There's so many different flavours.
