DS wants a party. It would have to be at home, likely to be bad weather as in Dec, probably 6 kids. We don't have a garden. What would you do?

We have winter birthdays too.
We’ve done cinema (£5 per child with kids pass - which you can get on a trial basis for £1) we take our own popcorn, sweets and a drink
Ice skating
Party at home with pizza and movie (although this became a mad couple of hours as they all started fighting / wrestling )
You could do Lego challenges? Cookie decorating. Make your own pizza?

TwigTheWonderKid · 26/09/2019 20:58

Not our party but when he was 10 DS was invited to a "Make your own slime" party which he really enjoyed. You could do that or incorporate it into a science party?

Or if you are feeling brave, a sleepover?

Wren77 · 26/09/2019 21:56

We took him to London for the weekend last November - he was born at Whipps Cross and spent the first 6 months of his life there. He wore a birthday badge all weekend (his birthday fell on the saturday) and he got lots of attention, went on the London eye, Natural History museum, ate out got made a fuss off by the waiting staff. It was fab - very memorable and special. Got a dog now! Won't be able to do that again for a while!!

Wren77 · 26/09/2019 21:57

He didn't spend his first 6 months at Whipps - in London!!

happytoday73 · 26/09/2019 21:58

Snowplay at local indoor ski centre... They loved it

Wren77 · 26/09/2019 21:59

sorry just read you want party suggestions - not much use - sorry x

SlavesToTheKitchen · 26/09/2019 21:59

No, DH would not accept a sleep over!
I did slime last year and some of those who came will be invited again.
I can't go anywhere with them, it has to be at home.

An hours ride in a limo with "champagne" and music blasting followed by lazer quest.

ImportantWater · 26/09/2019 22:02

We had five or six friends round, I bought second hand controllers for the Wii so they could play games together, they made their own pizzas, then I took them to the local dessert place (I know you can’t go out).

itsabongthing · 26/09/2019 22:03

We did ‘rock up’ climbing activity thing and then dinner at frankie and Benny’s. Just with 2 friends though as it’s quite ££

itsabongthing · 26/09/2019 22:04

Sorry - realised you can’t go out.
But you did ask what we did for our 10yo parties!

SometimesItRains · 26/09/2019 22:06

Watching with interest as mine is 10 in December too, not many ideas though I’m afraid. Mine wants to do something “amazing that no one has done before for their party” - simple Confused

DinosApple · 26/09/2019 22:10

I'm doing a treasure hunt and decipher the code in the wood over the road from home, followed by hot dogs and party games - doughnuts on a string, the chocolate game, the Smarties game (DD1 assures me this is a thing), apple bobbing and some music. I'm hoping that will last 2 hours!

A friend of mine did a food fight.. she said it was fabulous but only kept them busy for 10 minutes max! Grin

Hadenoughofitall441 · 26/09/2019 22:45

DS was 10 last January and we did a laser zone party, all his friends loved it and some of them even had thier parties there too.

Makesmilingyourbesthobby · 26/09/2019 23:11

My Dd11 has been having sleepovers the last couple of years and I do plenty of games for them, but if she hadn't and it had to at home i would go for a spy party as at one of her sleepovers I did a child friendly murder mystery and all the girls loved it so much more than I expected they really got into it and I intend to do something similar at DD's next sleepover
I wrote character names and abit of background and put in envelopes where they each picked one, so the murdereer was chosen at random and not even they knew it was them and for each character I had items of clothes and props for them to wear
I was the character detective and had a giant magnifying glass a hat and a coat on and took all of they finger prints (cheap kit on amazon) and also had them do finger print on cello tape
For the actual victim instead of one of the girls being singled out as a victim I simply used chalk on floorboard to draw a figure of what they do at a crime scene and set up a purse and handbag with pretend cards and that about the victim and little extra things for clues a I'd card about being a spy
For the real clues I bought some spy pens with uv torches on the lid of them and put them in the bag and they soon clicked and began looking at her belongings using the torches for clues I also used the pens to write clues on my household mirrors windows random newspaper laying around etc sometimes I didn't even put a clue I just wrote go check the bathroom or watch out for ......
They absolutely loved this part looking all over the house for hidden clues
Once they had put the clues together they eventually worked out all by themselves to deduct one by names their characters and work out who was left
While they did this I took note of had picked the killer envelope and used they finger print I had taken earlier to leave traces of it all by the 'scene of the crime' once they had worked out who it was I explained I needed evidence and motive
Evidence
they eventually found the fingerprints (cello tape) and used another kit I had bought to transfer fingerprints and compare to the suspect
For motive
When kids where busy looking for clues I also put a coded message in another bag (which was the killers prop along with afew other incriminating things gloves and such so when they found the note they had to decipher it which it said to pop the balloons, before sleepover I had put a written a letter in a code and cut up and put each piece in each balloon with a coded message so each child had a little piece of the letter to work out and once they had each done theirs they put it togeather to read a letter that basically said they was a spy too and had orders to see the person off, there are plenty of other roots you could take with this doesn't have to be a murder or notes it could be they are spies on a mission to work something out and could be a separated map they have to find its endless
Other ideas-
Makeup/ hair/ face masks
Another game I did one year was a selfie hunt just like a scavenger hunt but they had to use they phones to take photos of things on list they loved this game too -two teams each get a list and got a set time to do as many 'selfies' as they can with all team members in them example all in the bath tub, use bodies to spell a word, take a selfie with spoons on noses, silly face selfie, selfie with an animal etc needless to say we ended up having such fab and funny photos too

Stompythedinosaur · 26/09/2019 23:15

If your dh doesn't want a sleepover perhaps he could plan an alternative?

JockTamsonsBairns · 26/09/2019 23:18

What is your budget Op? When ds was 10, we looked into a "gaming party bus" for him. It looked brilliant, but was just a bit too much of a stretch for us.
We ended up having a Nerf Gun party for 8 of them - it was a complete and utter nightmare and I couldn't, in all good conscience, recommend it Grin.
It's a difficult age if you can't get them out and about as, IME, they're less into party type stuff. Does your DS like gaming? Mine would've been over the moon just to go to someone else's house with six pals, play Xbox, and get a few Domino's pizzas. You don't need to over complicate things just for the sake of it.

AlunWynsKnee · 26/09/2019 23:22

How about a ceramic painting party? I found a lovely local woman who brought everything to the house.

SlavesToTheKitchen · 27/09/2019 07:31

Some good ideas thanks. He has sensory issues and appalling hygiene so I'm a bit reluctant to do anything cooking with them. I have to send him to wash his hands all the time and I'm not sure that would end well.
He can't build lego, but DC have just been given cameras so maybe they could split into two groups and make a lego video.

(Ceramic) painting might be an idea, what sort of things did you paint?

Gaming is my fall back in case it all goes wrong! There will (I think) be 4 girls and 2 boys if that changes anything. Hopefully no wrestling if there's a movie!

Gaming and pizza at home.

AlphaJura · 27/09/2019 07:51

My DS's birthday is in the summer, he's 13 now so last year we didn't do this, but up until he was 12, he just had about 6-8 mates round. When they were younger I used to do party games but when he got a bit older, they were happy with ordering in some pizza, fizzy pop and gaming. They did charge about the house and garden a bit but it was over in a couple of hours. My ds has Aspergers and doesn't like to change his routine hence why we did the same thing for years! When he got to 13 though I said they were getting a bit big for that so he had a couple of friends round and we went to a trampoline park.

Patchworksack · 27/09/2019 07:56

For that sort of age group we've done a successful murder mystery party at home (from Red Herring Games) and an escape room (we did Dr Gravely's retreat which was 13+ but I think there is an easier one for 10+). My 9 yr old had a Lego robot wars party which was fab - the guy brought bases, which they constructed lego bots on top of then programmed them. I know you said you can't go out but for anyone else looking for ideas we did a Treasure Trails treasure hunt around our city.

AlunWynsKnee · 27/09/2019 08:35

SlavesToTheKitchen the woman had all sorts of things. Wizards, butterflies, animals, plates etc.

CherryPavlova · 27/09/2019 08:41

Not much use to you, I fear, but I think we went to Action Stations at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for our son, Hollycombe steam funfair for one and a pony party for the other.
I know for one 11th birthday we held a Pamper party with a local beautician doing nails and lips, blow drying hair and dressing up in feather boas etc alongside a karaoke machine. It was very cheesy but they loved it.

Dowser · 27/09/2019 10:59

28 years ago since the last one.
I honestly can’t remen 😂
