They do good veg, good cheese and good wine!

Halloumi fries. They’re good too!

supersalmon1 · 26/09/2019 17:50

Salted pretzel chocolate!

Grambler · 26/09/2019 17:51

Buy the mini stollen, and the chocolate santa lollies if they are in.

PuffHuffle5 · 26/09/2019 17:53

I think it might depend on the store, but fruit and veg isn’t particularly fresh in ours - it goes off quickly and is sometimes already mouldy in store. Had a few issues with meat as well. Everything else is ok though - baby items - nappies, baby food, formula etc are fantastic. Their baby wipes are the best I’ve tried by far.

westcountrychicken · 26/09/2019 17:53

Veg is really hit and miss, it never seems to last. Bulk buying pasta and their junk food is amazing. The middle aisle of tat is epic! I don't personally rate their red wine but apparently their organic Prosecco is nice.

westcountrychicken · 26/09/2019 17:54

Oh yes, baby wipes! I've not found any that compare.

ZogorElmer · 26/09/2019 17:56

Best baby wipes you can get.

I do our whole weekly shop in Aldi and never have any complaints.

CacenCrunch · 26/09/2019 17:57

Don't buy things like ketchup, pasta sauces - they are awful, far too sweet.

Chilledout11 · 26/09/2019 18:00

The pre-packed salads are great. Particularly the fruity cous cous etc

Falafel. Cheese are great. If you eat fish there are lovely choices.
The washing powder is the only one I use now.

Only things I go elsewhere for are ketchup sweet chilli (like blue dragon) and gravy.

Hemskis · 26/09/2019 18:00

Chocolate! The Moser Roth bars in brown packaging are delicious.

Chilledout11 · 26/09/2019 18:01

Yes to the organic prosecco

CacenCrunch · 26/09/2019 18:03

Oh yes the washing powder and dog food is good, and my dog is fussy

coldlocation · 26/09/2019 18:05

I do my full shop there, all own brand stuff or what's on offer. No complaints other than not being able to get brown rice and v limited selection of dried pulses (veggie household).

Girasole02 · 26/09/2019 18:05

Jo Malone dupe candles, diffuser etc

ChasingRainbows19 · 26/09/2019 18:07

In our store we have no issues with the fruit and veg at all we eat loads of it. The organic Prosecco I've been given as a gift was lovely. We do our full shop in Aldi with just the odd top up item in the week from the local shop l. Everyone's different though

francienolan · 26/09/2019 18:17

I'm always shocked when people say they get their veg there--ours, all the produce is completely rotten before it hits the shelves. Disgusting.

I buy maple syrup (they have the real stuff!), Aldi brand prosecco, sometimes cured meat like chorizo. Most of the things we buy aren't significantly cheaper there other than that as the fruit and veg is completely inedible.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 26/09/2019 18:22

I can't buy veg or meat from ours as it's appalling quality, but non perishable things are usually fine - although I have to admit their cheese is really good and haven't had an issue with it.

Baby wipes and toiletries/cleaning products are always a good shout too. Generally I do a big shop there once a month/two weeks for non-perishable stuff and get the rest locally.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 26/09/2019 18:23

Oh I've heard the wine is pretty good too but I don't really drink so can't comment!

PivotPivotPivottt · 26/09/2019 18:25

The only thing I don't rate from Aldi is the washing powder, any time I've used it it leaves white marks all over my clothes. Haven't used it for a couple of years though so could be different now.

My cat's love the cat food (one is very fussy this is the only one she finishes)

Nappies, wipes, toiletries, cleaning products.

Chocolate is lovely, especially the orange flavour Belgian wave things.

Snackrite crisps although I don't like the big share bags similar to kettle chips, can't remember what they are called in Aldi. Love their pringles though.

Also love their cans of cola. I actually prefer it to coca cola.

bonbonours · 26/09/2019 18:26

In ours fruit and veg is great. I agree that the chocolate is good, even the really cheap stuff is much nicer than Sainsbury or Tesco cheap stuff. We buy nearly everything there to be honest.

Pinkflipflop85 · 26/09/2019 18:42

Don't buy their halloumi fries...they are absolutely disgusting.

discobears · 26/09/2019 18:43

The dishwasher tablets and washing powder which has the 'Good Housekeeping' award.

Any of the chocolate really, the cheapish large bars (red for dark, blue for milk) are creamy and delicious.

The humous, oatcakes, chia and oat crispbreads.

The fresh pizzas, especially the ham and mushroom one. DH loves the spicy salami one but you do have to redistribute the chilli chunks before eating unless you are crazy immune to it.

Frozen large battered cod and haddock are great. We also enjoyed all the frozen vegetarian pastry parcels - can't remember them all but think there's a mushroom one and an asparagus and emmentel one.

The posh ice cream in the round tubs - salted caramel is my favourite. Also the frozen lemon cheesecake. Omg.

I'm not a fan of the halloumi fries; have found them to be too oily and salty. Also don't rate their version of the Warburtons sandwich 'thins' or many of their cereals. The most expensive ground coffee is good but the tea and cheaper coffee aren't great imo.

coconuttelegraph · 26/09/2019 18:49

Halloumi fries. They’re good too! Don't buy their halloumi fries...they are absolutely disgusting

This is why I don't get these type of threads. Food is a personal preference, surely you won't know what you and your family enjoy unless you taste it

Pinkflipflop85 · 26/09/2019 18:55

I love halloumi fries. I could happily live on them. But the aldi ones are disgusting.

Willow2017 · 26/09/2019 19:09

The meat and poultry in our local is good. Especially the FR chicken, pork joints.
Fish is good too.
Choc is good.
Kids love the cereals, crisps, and juice.
Sometimes fruit is hit and miss but veg is always fine.
