I think one of their champagnes (about £12) won a blind taste test for the best champagne under £30.

The Moser Roth chocolate is good, and we had some lovely own brand cereal bars from them, though they weren't especially cheap. Tinned fish was good, and cheap.

EmbarrassingMama · 26/09/2019 19:14

Anyone fancy doing a Prosecco delivery? Got a real hankering after reading this thread.

NamiSwan · 26/09/2019 19:15

Aldi full fat Greek yoghurt is amazing and very cheap!

Willow2017 · 26/09/2019 19:15

Forgot a few.
Washing up.liq lasts ages.
Other cleaning stuff is fine too.
Face cream.and toiletries are good too. Same ingredients just much cheaper😁

shiningstar2 · 26/09/2019 19:17

We like most of their specially selected range. Jam cake bacon pate quiche. We dislike their peanut butter. It is awful. Also like their butter with sea salt. We also buy dishwasher tablets shower gel soap bleach. Our bill is always at least 25% than when we do a full shop at tesco.

redchocolatebutton · 26/09/2019 19:20

take a blindfold to avoid buying everything off the middle aisle.
other than that, it's a supermarket. sells stuff.

narcissistseverywhere · 26/09/2019 19:20

Dominion chocolate eclairs (100 x nicer than Cadbury's)

Katex888 · 26/09/2019 19:23

Their white chocolate magnum rip offs are the best.

Willow2017 · 26/09/2019 19:26

Maple bacon quiche is lovely it's a regular in our house.😀

It's really worth it. I can get 4 -5 bags of shopping for the same price as 2 bags in Morrison's.

Justajot · 26/09/2019 19:29

Don't buy ice cream, sorbet, own brand Frazzles or ready meals (we don't just eat junk, I promise).

BeanBag7 · 26/09/2019 19:33

Pretty much everything is good. The only things I've had and enjoyed less than the equivalent was their Mini Cheddars and their Doritos. They're the only crisps I eat really, so maybe all their crisps are bad.

Surinamtoad · 26/09/2019 19:34

The giant olives in a jar are better than the fresh ones from Waitrose...

BeardofZeus · 26/09/2019 19:35

I also find fruit and veg goes off before I’ve got it home, and the meat. Really irritating

PorpentinaScamander · 26/09/2019 19:38

I've found most stuff from there is absolutely fine.

Ds1 loves the vegan sausage rolls. (The rest of us eat meat)
The pizzas are really good. So is the cheesy garlic pizza bread. I always buy cheese, tinned tuna and bbq sauce from there too as its cheaper than elsewhere .

Artesia · 26/09/2019 19:50

I don’t get the love for the Moser Roth chocolate- I thought it was awful.

On the other hand I really rate the Lacura toiletries- hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, moisturiser and facial oil. Also the Aldi baby wipes.

Also, all the cheeses, cold meats and deli items (falafel etc) I have tried have been lovely. The potato waffles (knock off Birds Eye) are identical and half the price. And the Chinese crispy duck with pancakes is amazing, and again half the price of other supermarkets.

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 19:56

The Lacura mascara! It's amazing and so cheap

Mumshappy · 26/09/2019 19:57

I do my main shop at aldi but don't buy everything from there.
Don't buy nappies and baby wipes from there anymore. Prefer lidi ones.
Dont buy cereal bars from there as prefer belvita.
Dont buy cordial prefer vimto.
Dont buy their mouthwash.
Not keen on the chocolate.
Love the stir fry mixes, fake lotus biscuits, soap, shampoo and cleaning products.

NatashaRomanov · 26/09/2019 19:59

Another vote for the chocolate.
Mosher Roth, and the cheaper one with card outer packaging.
Nappies. Wipes.
Bread and wraps are good.
The fruit and veg in ours is always good.
Meat is generally good.
The full fat Greek style yogurt is lovely.
I like the spice infusion cous cous.
Tinned tomato soupis nice. Norpak butter spread is fine.

In the middle aisle this week, a huge vote for the rose oil. My skin has never been so soft!
The Q10 day and night cream are fab as well. The caviar creams are raved about, but they are very rich, too much for my skin!

Ilovesweatybollocks · 26/09/2019 20:11

Coconut yoghurt and Salted Caramel yoghurt are lovely and creamy. A bit nearer Christmas they do a frozen salted caramel profiterole gateau for under £4. It's meant to be for 12 people but I can polish it off single handedly in about a day. I've been practicing it for years and I'm quite proud of myself. Cake

BammBamm · 26/09/2019 20:27

Chocolate brioche tear and share, some breads, pasta, pesto, olive oil, salad/rocket, crackers, beans, flavoured waters, cod fish fingers, kids sun tan lotion, sensitive wipes, nappies, washing liquid, washing up liquid, some lovely wines, Greek yoghurt, kids fromage frais, layered yoghurts, orange juice, coconut water, lightly smoked salmon, fresh specially selected pizzas, some frozen pizzas, mackies ice cream, the kids like the fake lollies they do too.
I also buy the 4 ply quilted toilet paper which I really like. The thick blue kitchen roll is good but not particularly cheap.
Veg is a no go for us, it goes off far too quick and it annoys me that you have to buy more than needed most of the time but there's plenty to go at Grin

Annasgirl · 26/09/2019 20:43

Lacura miracle cream - dupe of ELizabeth Arden 8 hour cream and totally amazing for eczema, as a hand cream or night cream.
Real maple syrup
Salted caramel and nut bars
Granola
Cheese Is all fab
Frozen pizza - garlic one
Nachos
Tiny marshmallows
Passats
Washing powder
Coffee pods
Soya milk
Mini tortilla wraps
Waffles
Fruit loaf
Loo roll
Kitchen towel
Bin bags
Liquid hand wash - the one that looks like Molton Brown - it is amazing and the scent is wonderful.
BB cream
Razors
Sharing bread - rosemary one is fab
Garlic ciabatta slices
Frozen cubes of chilli , basil, ginger and garlic - who knew!!!!
Hot cloth cleanser

I’m really, really fussy but I can 100% guarantee all of the above items are as good or better than anywhere else. Even M and S!!!

Gotthetshirt23 · 27/09/2019 08:40

Their vintage crunchy cheddar in a gold/yellow wrapper is stunning !
The Zinfandel likewise
Never had a problem with the meat or veg any more so than other supermarkets

QuimJongUn · 27/09/2019 10:54

The frozen vegan no chicken/no beefburgers are delicious. Especially in brioche buns (available in the bakery aisle!).
Single origin coffee
Red Fox Red Leicester
Frozen vegan sausage rolls
Q10 facial serum
Vegan jerky
The 67p frozen pizzas - nice enough on their own but great bases for adding your own toppings, too
Halloumi fries
Their own version of Mars bars (Titans) are a thousand times nicer than the real ones and only 59p for six
The Christmas food is delicious, when it comes in (usually beginning of November). The almond topped mince pies and luxury stollen are to die for.

DiscoMoo · 27/09/2019 10:58

The fruit and veg in our Aldi is fine - I’ve just had a banana and an apple that were bought last Saturday and both were perfect!

jingscrivvens · 27/09/2019 11:10

The 100% peanut butter
washing up liquid in the silver bottle
clothes washing liquid gel
fabric softener
toilet roll
cotton wool
hand wash
vitamins
fruit & veg are always great in our one so thumbs up here
tins of chickpeas, butter beans, kidney beans
pasta, rice, couscous, quinoa
coffee beans
scottish breakfast teabags
most of the booze, gin, organic prosecco, cremant du jura (although that disappeared a couple of weeks ago!), some good red and white wine. Their bog standard wheat beer is nice

there are more, the only thing I don't really like is their cooked chicken breasts/ flavoured ones. But the rest of their cold meat I do like. Their oat milk is ok. Prefer oatly

I do a top up in Sainsburys for all my middle class shit
