Make green tea palatable?

I keep reading I should drink it for the anti inflammatory effect. Can I do anything, or buy a certain type to make it more pleasant? It kind of makes me feel sick.

Don't leave it on for very long! After more than a couple of minutes it tastes very bitter.

SillyBub · 24/09/2019 15:23

No. There is nothing to can do other than chuck it in a bin miles away and never let the evil, vomit inducing stuff darken your mug ever ever again 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Peridot1 · 24/09/2019 15:24

Don’t use boiling water. Use water that is just off the boil apparently.

It’s lovely with some lemon juice, mint and agave syrup.

Usernamealreadyexists · 24/09/2019 15:25

Depends on the green tea. Some of the supermarket stuff is shit. Look at buying sencha - it doesn’t have the bitter taste and is very light.

Sparadrap · 24/09/2019 15:25

I agree with Pursie, leaving the bag in too long makes it taste yuck.

Tea leaves are nicer or you can get green tea bags with another flavour which taste less bitter if you like tea a bit more brewed.

MamaLazarou · 24/09/2019 15:31

Turn it into Kombucha Grin

Ambidexte · 24/09/2019 15:37

You can get it combined with other things (mint, jasmine, etc). Mint might be a good idea if it makes you feel a bit nauseous.

I actually love green tea, but find it makes me nauseous afterwards if I have it on an empty stomach. You could try having something small to eat with it?

BlankTimes · 24/09/2019 16:00

I find ordinary green tea too bitter.

Matcha is nice, it's green tea powder so you can use a little at a time so it's not bitter.

I use about an eighth of a teaspoon for mine so one packet lasts absolutely ages. You can vary the strength to suit your palate.

I also add it to other herb teas as well as drinking it on its own.

Twinings salted caramel green tea Wink

BertieBotts · 24/09/2019 22:41

Cold brew it and drink chilled and sweetened with honey, syrup or sugar.

Mylittlerainbow · 24/09/2019 22:46

I agree not to let it brew for too long, like half of what you would brew a normal tea bag. Twinnings green tea and mango is lovely as it’s a little sweeter.

Also, it is an acquired taste. Force feed yourself the first couple of cups and you’ll soon find yourself craving it Smile

CornishCreation · 24/09/2019 22:48

I found it tasted better when I replaced it with wine.

SkiingIsHeaven · 24/09/2019 22:51

Take the bag out and brew some proper Yorkshire Tea.

Sewrainbow · 24/09/2019 22:52

I second salted caramel green tea by twinings!

Also matcha green tea with cranberry and lime or Tetley pomegranate and raspberry green tea Smile

Spinderellacutituponetime · 24/09/2019 22:54

Vodka

Kpo58 · 24/09/2019 23:06

Jasmine Green tea is much nicer and more palatable than just the standard green tea.

RezCowgirl · 24/09/2019 23:11

Use whole loose leaf, 70c temp water. Brew for 2 mins max.

DPotter · 24/09/2019 23:13

I use Whittards loose Jasmine Green tea leaves. I put the leaves into a tea strainer and pour just off boil water thru the strainer into the cup. Only need about 1/2 teaspoon of tea. and drink quickly or it oxides and becomes bitter.
I love it!

Wallabyone · 24/09/2019 23:27

I like green tea and Jasmin too, it's refreshing

Girlofgold · 25/09/2019 15:35

😄. Thanks everyone. Will try the suggestions.

Honey and a squeeze of lime

Picklypickles · 25/09/2019 15:48

I like green tea but never have it on an empty stomach because it increases stomach acid which will make you feel sick!

Bloodycats · 25/09/2019 15:49

If you really can’t get on with it then try peppermint tea. Much tastier and still good for you.

Soola · 25/09/2019 15:51

Have it intravenously injected directly into your body.

It’s beyond disgusting.
