Is there a decent bought soup anywhere?

I normally make my own soup. Right now I’m ill and after setting off the fire alarm last week by forgetting the stove, I am reluctant to try again at the moment.

Over the last few days I have tried many stores soups. They are revolting. M&S chicken and vegetable tasted like it had chemicals in it (it probably does). Waitrose chicken and veg broth was the same.

Thee must be SOMEWHERE that does a decent soup. It’s not hard to make so there must be something in them to preserve them I guess?

We’re in a city so have access to places like Leon and Pret etc as well as the supermarkets. Do any of them do a decent soup. Just want something not messed about and full of rubbish. As fresh as possible.

TIA

The opposite of the OP's initial query, although I like the soup maker idea for soup enthusiasts who are unable to make soup entirely from scratch for whatever reason, but I see that the recipes for the Cully & Sully soups are on their website.

I might have a go at a few of those.

Strongtea I agree 100% about about Baxter’s carrot and butter bean. 🙂

EAT and Pret soups are all great. Check the calorie counts though because they vary wildly and you wouldn’t want to have one of their fat free 145 calorie jobs as your main meal for the day.

Yorkshire Provender roast chicken, cauliflower cheese and chicken and lentil all delicious. Bonus that they are all lowish carb too.

I must have terrible taste then. I like Baxter's and Sainsbury's tins. I also like Covent Garden soups.

Covent Garden soup is grim.

However I can't be that high brow because I really like Aldi's ham and lentil soup in the clear plastic container (about £1 in the chilled section).

Sainsburys tomato and basil in a plastic tub.
