Where can I find baby clothes like this?

Looking for clothes for my first baby (due in 5 weeks) and whilst we know we’re having a boy I am trying to keep the clothes fairly neutral, and I am sick to the back teeth of everything “unisex” being-

  • boring dull colours; everything is grey, beige, brown, mustard, saffron, fudge, or pale “hospital” type shades
  • emblazoned with twee slogans or random animals/animal faces, cartoon characters, cars, dinosaurs etc
  • inexplicably has ears on it

I’ve been looking online at stores like H&M, Next, etc and everything is just a bloody sea of dull! I mean take this jumper or these dungarees for example- both perfectly nice styles but those colours are just so bland, could they not have done them in a nice shade of red or green?

I don’t have an enormous amount of money to spend but I don’t think I’m asking a lot- just somewhere that sells unisex clothes in nice, bright, happy colours, simple patterns, is decent quality and doesn’t cost too much? Does such a place exist?

Probably not much help because I personally love the ‘dull’ neutral colours and H&M is one of my favourites Grin.

Boots Mini club has lots of vibrant prints though, I like them too and the little bird range at Mothercare. Pricier options are Frugi and Swedish companies such as Duns and Maxomorra. You could probably get some on eBay for a bit less.

Lindex is fab for stuff like this and really affordable too. I've always shopped online there.

Plus I always look in the 'girls' section for my DS and buy him what I like from there too. Doesn't really matter when they're little and have no opinion on what they wear I think!

Frugi. It’s not cheap so check out sales x

NannyR · 20/09/2019 12:26

Boots do really lovely bright all in one's, rainbow stripes etc and they are usually on a multibuy offer like three for £13.

Doyoumind · 20/09/2019 12:26

You can buy plain things in bright colours without logos and slogans. That's what I bought a lot of. Try the supermarkets. I did find stuff in next and m&s although it was some time ago. Shop in the girls and boys sections rather than looking for unisex.

GinNotGym19 · 20/09/2019 12:27

Boots sells lot of bright colours. And next!

katmarie · 20/09/2019 12:27

I second Boots, lots of lovely bright prints, and wont break the bank.

Greyhound22 · 20/09/2019 12:27

Frugi
Maxomorra
Smafolk
POP
Duns
Toby Tiger

It is expensive new but lots of sales on at the moment.

I really like the Little Bird range in Mothercare www.mothercare.com/clothing/little-bird-by-jools-oliver/

My children are grown up now, but this range is my Go To for baby presents. I wish it had been around when my daughters were drowning in pastel pink.

My son lives in leggings from fred&noah. Beautiful, bright, unisex prints and they fit and last so well

fitzbilly · 20/09/2019 13:02

The subtle hues of the clothes in h&m you linked to are actually much more tasteful then bright primary colours in my opinion. But they're are loads of clothes in plain colours in all of the shops. Also look on eBay, there are huge amounts of baby clothes on there second hand, most barely worn.

Ribeebie · 20/09/2019 13:05

Frugi
John Lewis
Boots

LizzieMacQueen · 20/09/2019 13:05

Gap baby. Wait for the sale though.

Soola · 20/09/2019 13:10

I bought a lot of white clothing for mine and used Dylon hand wash dyes to get the colours I wanted.

Celebelly · 20/09/2019 13:12

Blade and Rose do nice bright leggings and matching tops.

Mrsducky88 · 20/09/2019 13:13

Fred and Noah
Kite
Maxomorra
Fruji
Duns

Have a look at babipur site- good sales on and the clothes last ages and wash and wear really well. Plus decent resale value so actually don’t cost anymore than most high street stores in the end.

Celebelly · 20/09/2019 13:14

Oh just saw the animals thing. Unlucky.

Celebelly · 20/09/2019 13:15

Also I shop a lot in the boy's section for DD as a lot of stuff in there is unisex too but brighter, particularly in the supermarkets.

ArtichokeAardvark · 20/09/2019 13:16

M&S do multipacks of onesies in different bright colours. Otherwise, Newbie is pricier but good for unisex.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 20/09/2019 13:18

Frugi is much more reasonably priced in baby sizes second hand

NavyBerry · 20/09/2019 13:19

Many suggestions here but I tend to think such place doesn't exist. Unisex=boring in most of the shops. I have given up

LadyR77 · 20/09/2019 13:35

Lindex does lovely stuff.

Witsendagain · 20/09/2019 13:37

Babi Pur website

Duns and maxomorra are favourites here!
They are slightly pricier BUT if you buy in sale not by much and I've always sized up because they lend themselves to being rolled up and so last ages. My ds has been in his for the past year!
