Just watched him on piers Morgan and I never really knew who he was
But what a nice man he seems.
I’m quite a fan now.
( I knew he was a footballer but wouldn’t have been able to pick him out from a line up of other footballers)

He is a humble and lovely man.

UnitedRoad · 20/09/2019 00:09

I love him too, and still miss him playing for United. He always seems lovely, and really kind.

Lifebi · 20/09/2019 08:35

humble? Is this the same Cristiano Ronaldo who opened a museum in Madeira dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo!

He is very humble
He's a fantastic example of a gentleman and good sport
Watch you tube videos of him helping players etc. He's great

Huggybear16 · 20/09/2019 08:45

I love him. I think he's wonderful.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/09/2019 08:47

I did read (not sure if it is true) that he refuses tattoos because he is a blood donor ?

(Tiny thing but something to make you like him more ) !

BeepBeeep · 20/09/2019 08:50

Although his looks don't do it for me, he comes across as a nice enough bloke both on and off the pitch.
I like him.

JacquesHammer · 20/09/2019 08:51

Yes, the proceeds thereof include donations to the hospital he opened in Madeira. A sizeable donation was also donated to the rebuild process following the catastrophic fires.

BeepBeeep · 20/09/2019 08:53

Yes, that is true @70isalimitnotatarget
A lot of premiere league players donate to charities and other good causes and like Ronaldo, do it without publicity or fanfare.

BeepBeeep · 20/09/2019 09:05

@jacqueshammer
He also donated £5million to Nepal after their earthquake to help.
Without fuss or fanfare.
A bloody good egg.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/09/2019 09:12

Yes, he's supposed to be something of a philanthropist. Quite refreshing in an industry where many are all about 'look how big my house is, flash my car is, how much jewellry I have'.

I'm sure he has a very comfortable lifestyle but he does give a lot of his wealth away to deserving causes.

Tinkletwat · 20/09/2019 09:30

The donations could also be seen to be a bit of a tax dodge. Humble is the last word I'd use to describe him.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/09/2019 09:35

That's true Tinkle, he's giving money away that he would otherwise have to pay in tax anyway.

The US government has previously expressed annoyance at high profile philanthopists like Bill Gates, because by him giving away most of his fortune, they miss out on a huge wedge of tax dollars.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/09/2019 09:37

Surely compared to piers Morgan anyone seems nice?!

(But yes, agree with all on this one)

MILHouse · 20/09/2019 09:44

He is a fan of renting women’s internal organs too. Good egg.

JacquesHammer · 20/09/2019 09:48

I have a friend who is friends with the family.

He is absolutely adamant that he’s a lovely, lovely man - humble and incredibly generous. Does a lot for people back on his home island without press/shouting about it.

Lweji · 20/09/2019 09:50

He is a humble and lovely man

In some ways. Not so much in others. Like most people.

Humble in recognising how lucky he is, not regarding his achievements.
He still has all the flashy cars and houses, and recently went through court in Spain for tax evasion. But he does donate a lot, mostly not advertised, and seems to genuinely like kids and be well regarded by team mates.

JacquesHammer · 20/09/2019 09:52

In some ways. Not so much in others. Like most people

Very fair point.

TokyoSushi · 20/09/2019 09:53

I met him a few times at my work when he was at Utd, absolutely lovely!

BishopFrownofStThigh · 20/09/2019 09:59

Is this the one who wanted to track down a woman who gave him hamburgers when he was a child to say thank you?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/09/2019 10:04

Hamburger ladies- yes he wants to invite them to his home for a meal to say thank you. Absolutely lovely.

The bit that got me was when he said ‘yes I have a lovely life, but do you know how many times I’ve taken my kids to the park to play? Zero.’ That was really eye opening for me.

LochJessMonster · 20/09/2019 10:29

He is portrayed as such an arrogant person in the media but he is actually such a humble, generous person. He earns his money and spends it on what he wants (flashy cars-typical man!) but quietly donates a huge amount too.

Its not really arrogance to know you are one of the best football players in the world, and he is so so passionate about his sport and country.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/09/2019 11:19

how many times I’ve taken my kids to the park to play? Zero.’ That was really eye opening for me

That' because of privacy issues, he'd get mobbed , his children would get mobbed .
It isn'rrbecause he cannot be arsed taking them !.

Patroclus · 20/09/2019 11:50

Pretty sure he paid women who were very willing to have his children because of his sexuality. What other choice would he have?

Patroclus · 20/09/2019 11:51

The Ronaldo sculptue still mkes me laugh. They've quietly replaced it.
