Just watched him on piers Morgan and I never really knew who he was
But what a nice man he seems.
I’m quite a fan now.
( I knew he was a footballer but wouldn’t have been able to pick him out from a line up of other footballers)

When I went to Ibiza one year all the Spanish men were styled like Ronaldo. Looked good actually.

LochJessMonster · 20/09/2019 11:55

He had his son and twins via surrogates and his newest daughter with his girlfriend.
The only reason people think he is gay is because he plucks his eyebrows... There is no proof, its just used to insult him.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/09/2019 11:55

I know @70isaLimitNotaTarget I watched the interview! That was my point.

He's a bloody amazing footballer.

RushianDisney · 20/09/2019 11:59

I am not a fan of anyone who thinks they can rent women's bodies and buy babies. No matter how much they donate to worthy causes.

whitershadeofpale · 20/09/2019 12:05

What happened too 'we believe you'? I'm sure the woman he payed off for rape thinks he's amazing too.

LochJessMonster · 20/09/2019 12:08

I take rape claim 'victims' that can be bought off, with a pinch of salt tbh.

Lweji · 20/09/2019 12:11

I was under the impression that his mother was the main drive for the first children, although he seems to really like children and be happy with his.

NoCauseRebel · 20/09/2019 12:18

I am not a fan of anyone who thinks they can rent women's bodies and buy babies. No matter how much they donate to worthy causes. although if a woman on here admitted to having become a parent through surrogacy posters would be told that “you’ve obviously never experienced infertility so have no right to an opinion.”

If he is a despicable human being for having used a surrogate then so is every woman on this site who has done the same.

Also, am I the only one who read the thread title and thought that someone must have started a rumour about his death on social media?

AgeLikeWine · 20/09/2019 12:29

Ronaldo humble?

That isn’t the word most football fans would use about him. Brilliant, egotistical, athletic, arrogant, narcissistic, ultra-professional, hard-working, role-model, leader, etc etc yes. But humility is certainly not a quality he is known for on the pitch. He wouldn’t be half the player if it was.

birdsdestiny · 20/09/2019 12:34

Nocause, those who are opposed to surrogacy are opposed to surrogacy whatever the sex of those purchasing children.

JacquesHammer · 20/09/2019 12:34

But humility is certainly not a quality he is known for on the pitch

It’s not uncommon for sportsmen or women to have different persona on the pitch

Trewser · 20/09/2019 12:35

But humility is certainly not a quality he is known for on the pitch of course not! He couldn't be humble on the pitch! But he does come across as genuinely quite humble in RL

I know someone who worked with him years ago. They said they had never met any athlete quite as dedicated, driven and hard working.

99mTc · 20/09/2019 12:42

I don't know him personally so I can't judge him, but I am very wary of a young, single man with not much free time to be a father who thinks it's ok to have children via surrogacy. It strikes me as viewing children as just another asset that can be bought. I presume he isn't gay seeing as he is now in a relationship with a woman, so why did he not wait a few years for the right woman to have children with?

rededucator · 20/09/2019 12:49

How do you know how much time he has to spend at home? I live near a training ground and training etc is within school times for a few hours. Then travel for matches, what ever other week on season? I'd say that equates to less than most jobs.

Trewser · 20/09/2019 12:53

rededucator are you serious??

BumblyBeeBum · 20/09/2019 12:54

Why did he feel the need to pay off his rape victim hush money if he was supposedly innocent then?

mooncuplanding · 20/09/2019 12:58

I watched this and was seriously impressed by his drive and commitment to his work. I would go so far to say I have not seen anyone quite so driven.

I had heard the chatter about him being arrogant but seeing this interview made me absolutely dismiss that view of him as being a snapshot without any understanding of any context.

I felt for him not having any privacy and was also astounded at his non-bitter attitude to his dad's alcoholism - it was nice to see a non-victimy stance for a change

LochJessMonster · 20/09/2019 13:01

But humility is certainly not a quality he is known for on the pitch hes a sportsman, he can't be humble on the pitch! Hes one of the best footballers in the world, most of the time its not arrogance, its talent.

Pretty much everyone who has worked with or for him has said what a great guy he is -that speaks volumes. He is so good to his fans.
Of course the media are going to make him out to be a dick, its what they do. Yet he never retaliates and publicise all the amazing stuff he does.

ThatCurlyGirl · 20/09/2019 13:05

He does lots of charity work that goes unreported, has given millions and millions of pounds to charities 😊

I used to assume he'd be an arrogant dick and felt bad when I realised he's actually super philanthropic. It was a never judge a book by its cover reminder!

99mTc · 20/09/2019 13:07

How do you know how much time he has to spend at home?
Playing football at that level is extremely time consuming. Cristiano Ronaldo is also renowned for his dedication, he trains more than the average professional footballer.
Professional sportsmen also need to be well rested most of the season, so he definitely won't be getting up in the middle of the night with a baby.
It's definitely not a family-friendly job.

Dowser · 20/09/2019 14:50

Looks like the general consensus is that he’s a good man

Mind I don’t fall out with him when he called his mother old, I think he might even have used the term elderly

I googled and she’s only 64... I’m nearly 68 . I don’t consider myself old..not yet anyway l.and I don’t become elderly until late 70s at least

Lweji · 20/09/2019 15:04

Aren't our parents always "old"? Wink

According to my DS I'm positively ancient (just late 40s).
