DLA to pip

Currently managing this change. Have support from advisors but I'm a bit worried that their advice seems contrary to what I'm finding online and which some kind mners have given.

Ideally I'd like to see a sample of a COMPLETED form to get an idea of how much info is expected and what info/how things are worded but I'm really struggling to find one online.

Can anyone help/advise?

My parents get there medicine all done by patient app on line
But when it’s collected it always has the prescription with it in the bag

GingerSausage has just proved my point about being Agoraphobic .They don’t want to visit you and will do their best to get you in for an assessment as if you can get out and about and engage with people in the assessment Center you can’t be suffering from Agoraphobia So they can give you zero points
If you get a doctors letter saying that you have been to the GP recently rather than a home visit they will also use that against you in the same way ie if you can go to the doctors and engage with the GP you can do the same with the assessment
At tribunal you have a fairly good chance of winning but in the meantime it’s a lot of stress

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/09/2019 14:17

@Graphista just to let you know that pip forms are not treated the same as dla forms. It does matter what you write however it’s 90% your face to face assement that will decide what level of pip you get if any.
I would not stress excessively about what you write, as it is given very little consideration by the dm as they have to go off what the assessor writes in their report.

Itsjustmee · 20/09/2019 14:18

And I know nothing about Agoraphobia but I do know how the assessors work and what they look for and how to trick people
GingersSausage experience is exactly what I said they would do in such a case

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 20/09/2019 16:40

I highly recommend Fightback4Justice, find them on Facebook. They are all highly trained at filling the forms in for both physical and mental health conditions. Their success rate is excellent (don’t know the exact figure).

They did my forms (ESA & PIP) for a small donation, I was sent for assessment for both benefits, but was awarded High Rate PIP (both components) and out straight into the Support Group for ESA.

I can not recommend them highly enough.

Graphista · 20/09/2019 20:21

I did read the post properly I just found the implication that respondents were encouraging me or others to lie or exaggerate offensive - because it is!

No way I could attend a f2f outside my home plain not possible, not left the place in nearly 2 years!

So actually them NOT paying much heed to the form really worries me! Because if they basically ignore that I'm screwed!

Itsjustmee · 20/09/2019 20:41

Graphista see if you can get a doctors letter stating that due to your health problems that a visit to an assessment centre is not suitable for you and that a home visit is advised
Sometimes a letter like that from your GP can be sufficient to do a paper review or a home visit
Wish you all the best

Graphista · 20/09/2019 22:46

Thanks yes such a request is with GP now thanks to (indirectly) advice from this thread.

Don't know if I'll have to pay a fee though. GP is nice enough but the surgeries around here charge for everything they can and she's not one of the "bosses" so not up to her.

I'm also aware others reading in similar circumstances may not have supportive Gp's.

The whole thing is SUCH a postcode lottery!

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/09/2019 22:53

@Graphista are your assessors capita or atos?

Itsjustmee · 21/09/2019 08:00

That’s a point actually Capita tend to do more home visits and Atos mainly do assessment centres
All the evidence you get make sure you keep it and photocopy it
As it will be useful for any further assessments in the future even if it’s old it will show continuation and as soon as you have had an assessment ring day or so later and ask for your medical reports as you will know from the report if you have been successful or not and if not start planning for a MR

FatBottomGirls · 21/09/2019 08:20

You can always ask for them to do a paper based decision (PA3)

Flyingarcher · 21/09/2019 13:05

The Form from Hell is in the post. I've done my best...

Zoflorabore · 21/09/2019 13:18

Good luck Flying

We’re a few days ahead of you. Be interesting to see how long it takes, their official story says approx 8 weeks.

I’ve been reading lots of success stories of MR’s and one person said they sent it off and received a reversed decision letter within 5 days! I’m not expecting less than a month.

Graphista · 22/09/2019 18:17

@MyDcAreMarvel I have no idea is it possible to find out?

OP posts:
Graphista · 22/09/2019 18:18

@Flyingarcher good luck to you and your family

PrettyPurse · 22/09/2019 18:20

I subscribed to the benefits and work link above too and have found it really helpful

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/09/2019 18:29

Capita are more South I will check areas. Capita are much more likely to give a home visit .

stucknoue · 22/09/2019 18:32

Be truthful but do not hold back, as much detail as possible. They score harshly so don't leave ambiguity. If your dc needs help sometimes, even prompting make sure you say so. It's changed a little since we did it, apparently they aren't rejecting as many but good luck

PrettyPurse · 22/09/2019 18:44

I'm dreading mine as my ds1 aged 16yrs has ASD...he doesn't have a learning disability and doesn't identify as having problems.

So his f2f is going to be pointless as he'll say he can do everything and won't admit what he struggles with

Graphista · 22/09/2019 18:53

@MyDcAreMarvel I'm west Scotland if that helps?

Again - cannot join benefits and work they won't accept my payment method

OP posts:
MyDcAreMarvel · 22/09/2019 20:09

It’s supposed to be neither in Scotland but not sure if they have switched over yet.
Also pip will be abolished by 2021 have a read of this.

Graphista · 22/09/2019 23:28

So what is supposed to happen in Scotland then?

OP posts:
Gingerkittykat · 23/09/2019 02:13

Support in Mind, Scotland helped me fill out the forms over the phone. They spent a good hour helping me, it was around a week for the phone appointment.

Social Security Scotland are taking over PIP, it was meant to be 2020. They have not announced what the replacement will be yet, but hopefully it will be more humane.

A lot of GPs won't write any benefits letters these days. You can ask for a free copy of your medical records under data protection law, mine took about 2 hours!

MyDcAreMarvel · 23/09/2019 15:00

In Scotland pip will be abolished by 2021 and replaced with a Scottish only benefit with longer awards less f to f etc.
In the meantime you will be assessed but not sure by who. Maybe give your local CAB a ring and ask them.

MyDcAreMarvel · 23/09/2019 15:00

Ginger the replacement benefits are on the link but not a lot of detail.

Graphista · 02/12/2019 14:17

Update:

Have had very good news today! So surprised and been feeling ill every time letterbox went...

But I got my PiP claim accepted and even better enhance rate for both.

This is such a relief, this has been an awful year in many ways. First payment due in January I am hoping this means next year won't be so awful.

I was so surprised that I called them to double check!

Thank you to everyone who helped and advised and supported I'm so grateful.
