When you had a baby what was the one item you most appreciated?

No budget, but the couple i'm buying for have all the large items. So i'm looking for items that may have slipped through the net.

So if you could recommend I buy one item, what would it be?

What is your budget OP?

WaterSheep · 15/09/2019 19:31

As per the OP I have no budget.

A playmat with an arch over it

Atlasta · 15/09/2019 19:34

Moses basket/crib sheets ( didn't realise how many I would actually need)
Not very exciting I knowGrin

Soola · 15/09/2019 19:35

Old fashioned wooden playpen.

Babymamamama · 15/09/2019 19:35

A wrapper to carry baby in whist I was doing bits round the house. And then I transitioned to a baby Bjorn Carrier. Again brilliant for hands free and not needing to bring the push chair out too often.

WaterSheep · 15/09/2019 19:36

Not very exciting I know

I don't care if it's exciting, I just want to be useful. Heck if a years supply of nappies is the most popular choice then so be it Grin

A lamb skin

Bath seat

feelingsicknow · 15/09/2019 19:36

Little caddy/basket to keep bits and bobs and nappies in for moving around the house?

Hangers for baby clothes?

Muslins (can never have too many)

Carabiners/hooks for prams

WaterSheep · 15/09/2019 19:36

Meant to add they have a play mat and baby carrier.

Little straps with poppers to attach toys to prams and car seat - my mate got me some from JoJo Maman Bebe (sp?) and they were so useful I bought two more.

WaterSheep · 15/09/2019 19:37

A lamb skin

What's this used for please?

Just ask them. Honestly easier than all this guessing, no budget, ask a stranger bollocks.

I never get why people don’t just ask. Either they want it and have bought it, or they don’t want it. Chances of you getting it right are slim to none.

BeHereNowx32 · 15/09/2019 19:38

A “Baby Basket” containing a variety of items. Such as nappies, wipes, creams, toiletries, bibs, blanket, cuddly toys... you can put anything in it! I loved it.

wallymum · 15/09/2019 19:38

Grobag

feelingsicknow · 15/09/2019 19:39

Lamb skin (liner) can be used universally for car seats and prams. They're very nice but pricey usually.

WaterSheep · 15/09/2019 19:40

feelingsicknow

They sound very useful. Thank you.

A stretchy wrap, or reusable nappies!

7Worfs · 15/09/2019 19:41

Lamb skin is for baby to lie on, could be floor, pram, cot... it’s hypoallergenic, keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer. And it’s very soft ofc

peachgreen · 15/09/2019 19:41

Schnuggle bath.

oldenoughtobehavebetter · 15/09/2019 19:41

If this is a first baby they won't know what they need. I would get something useful for a bit further down the line as people give a lot of newborn type presents but it's 6 months in when you're skint on mat leave that you want things like a high chair (Tripp trap?) or a buggy instead of a oram (mclaren type)

I agree a lambskin helps with putting baby down for a bit

Frangipane · 15/09/2019 19:41

This rocker

It was the one early years toy that all my children loved.
