To think she stole my Cath Kidston mug!

I have quite a few CK mugs. I've grown tired of them in the last few years due to poor quality and a preference for neutral 'White Company' looking things.

There was however Winnie The Pooh collections out again recently and I bought the highly desired by fans mug. It's really lovely, I got 2.

I had a new neighbour round last night for some dinner who I discovered also liked CK. She was shocked that I had not one but 2 of the mugs! We got on quite well. DC are a similar age.

I went downstairs this morning and into my kitchen. One mug is gone. I never, ever move them from their place.

It's vanished. Nobody else has been here apart from DH who doesn't touch that sort of thing and doesn't have any need to use a mug anyway. I have asked and he says it really wasn't him, he has no idea.

AIBU to think she stole my mug?

It was the 8 year old that (supposedly) took it. No I didn't mention him before because he wasn't in my house for very long. About 15 minutes, if that.

He was playing out but came to my house as he knew his mum was there. Couldn't say he looks the wrong type, seems a very sweet boy.

I've never met the 15 year old but I've seen him a few times in passing

Just googled it. Those sure are nice mugs. I think you should spread the love and have one each but I'm guessing you won't want to part with one of your stunt mugs Grin

Based on your update it seems odd that during a 15 minute window he happened to decide to steal the very item his mum admired. Your neighbour is a chancer and let her child take the blame.
Definitely go over and get mug back.

You've been mugged off, literally, by your klepto neighbour. You let her back in, well, more fool you. She half-inched that thing as sure as the sun rises in the East.

gingerbread88 · 14/09/2019 23:55

I'm shocked you gifted a new neighbour an £85 mug, especially after it was stolen from your own home. That's VERY generous

timshelthechoice · 15/09/2019 00:00

IKR, ginger. Can you imagine? C'mon over, nick my gear, blame it on your kid and I'll let you keep it. Can I come over? I'll admire everything in your house and slip diuretic in your tea so you'll be away for a piss in no time Grin.

BringMeTea · 15/09/2019 07:56

Well. Yes I can IMAGINE it. I imagine the OP can too.

Soola · 15/09/2019 08:18

If the 8 year old popped in and stole it, where did he conceal the mug upon his person?

Or did he run out and have a getaway driver waiting to give him a backie on his BMX?

That's why she is a new neighbour. They have form. Run out of the last town by a mob of angry Cath Kidston fans!

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 15/09/2019 08:26

Well at least it wasn't the toddler who came calling round on his own 🤔

You decided to give the kid a mug worth £80, because he thought his thieving mum would like it, really? Confused

15thOctober2019 · 15/09/2019 08:36

No selling for £80 odd. They are on buy it now for £35 or less on ebay if it is the balloon pooh.

I’m just here for the deletion message.
