To think she stole my Cath Kidston mug!

I have quite a few CK mugs. I've grown tired of them in the last few years due to poor quality and a preference for neutral 'White Company' looking things.

There was however Winnie The Pooh collections out again recently and I bought the highly desired by fans mug. It's really lovely, I got 2.

I had a new neighbour round last night for some dinner who I discovered also liked CK. She was shocked that I had not one but 2 of the mugs! We got on quite well. DC are a similar age.

I went downstairs this morning and into my kitchen. One mug is gone. I never, ever move them from their place.

It's vanished. Nobody else has been here apart from DH who doesn't touch that sort of thing and doesn't have any need to use a mug anyway. I have asked and he says it really wasn't him, he has no idea.

AIBU to think she stole my mug?

I think its alot of posters that have been mugged off

ShmooBooMoo · 14/09/2019 14:57

Op, did you tell him to tell his mum she could have it or did you just say take it back home? If it's the latter, you can knock and say you told him to take it back because you wanted to deal with the situation directly with his mum, not an unaccompanied child who was clearly very upset. Tell her you're shocked she sent him alone. That was actually pretty rude. She should've come with him, apologised, got him to say sorry and insisted on the mug being returned to you. Don't. leave. without. the. mug!
Also, don't let her in your home again.

Deedee248 · 14/09/2019 15:10

Oh my goodness! I am (on occasions!) the most naive trusting person, but I really smell a rat here. She sent a toddler round by himself to return the mug? Absolutely no way. She took it, and then she saw this on Mumsnet and realised she’d been rumbled!

Can’t believe she has got away with this! Shock

Why was I the only one deleted for mentioning the mysterious appearance of two extra children op had been hitherto unaware of? Confused

Soola · 14/09/2019 15:16

@HeadintheiClouds and who has reason to report you? No one except for the op, which is rather strange don’t you think?

HeadintheiClouds · 14/09/2019 15:18

I do indeed.

HeadintheiClouds · 14/09/2019 15:19

Awaits further deletion 😄

Bookworm4 · 14/09/2019 15:52

OP
Which child was the thief?

BiBiBirdie · 14/09/2019 18:31
Biscuit
Aaarrgghhh · 14/09/2019 18:54

Look, I can believe a kid doing this, not all kids but certainly some but, in no way would I have let him take it back to her. Fuck that. If you steal from someone you don’t get rewarded by keeping it because you owned up (or rather were told to take it round) I wonder if she did take it though and seen the mumsnet post, poor kid would be crying for a different reason then..

Well played neighbour lady! Well played! They are £35 on eBay! For a freeking mug!

That's cheap! They're usually going for £80+!

and who has reason to report you? No one except for the op, which is rather strange don’t you think?

I haven't reported anyone at all. So it wasn't me. If someone wants to think/say whatever they like then they can, I'm really not bothered

Crunchymum · 14/09/2019 19:25

Was it the 8yo who stole it? Was he drinking Sourz with you both??? Confused

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 14/09/2019 20:06

That's cheap! They're usually going for £80+!

I googled it and the awful items are £8.

What kind of mug is worth £80?!

NoDontLookAtMeImShy · 14/09/2019 20:08

OP stop being a twat

mugs cosy fuck all cos they are fuck all

TakeABreakAt12 · 14/09/2019 20:13

NoDont I'm not being a twat ConfusedHmm You're probably looking at generic CK mugs. And more specifically, ones they actually have in stock

The Winnie the Pooh CK mug is incredibly 'wanted' by fans/liners of CK

We still don’t know if it’s a light fingered mug snuggling toddler or thieving 8 yr old.

99problemsandjust1appt · 14/09/2019 20:19

Thought this would be the case

Cherrysoup · 14/09/2019 20:49

Ffs, go and get it back, use whatever excuse you need. If she is on here, then the mug was stolen and you’re just rewarding thriving if you let them keep it.

HeadintheiClouds · 14/09/2019 21:05

How old was the child who stole the mug (how would a child know it goes for 80 quid on eBay) and was sent to your door alone to give it back?

FredaFrogspawn · 14/09/2019 21:17

It’s on eBay for £150!

HeadintheiClouds · 14/09/2019 21:18

Would a two year old have known this, I wonder? 🤔

SparklyMagpie · 14/09/2019 21:30

You're replying to the wrong posters OP, how about replying to the real questions

You never fully answered one of my original questions when I asked about the 2 children, you added 2 extra children into the mix, you've then ignored other posters asking which child it actually was

OkayGo · 14/09/2019 21:44

Eep not sure I would have let him keep it op

Fookinwot · 14/09/2019 21:54

You said up thread the kids were too small to have taken it? But now it’s the 8 or 15 year old who did it, are they all toddler sized?
