So tired, what do you take that works

I’m 62
I Wake about 6ish then again around 8-8.30
Just recently I’ve started feeling really tired where I don’t want to move, just lay/sit there.

I do suffer GAD anxiety so probably use a lot of energy on that😩
It’s like I’ve got no get up and go, I’m not depressed (had that, nothing like i had, complete flatness) )maybe fed up sometimes.
I’ll think about doing something then think/feel tired then can’t be bothered

Had b12 and few others tested while back normal
Not on any hrt, venlafaxine for anxiety

So does anyone take anything that you think really works for you?

Iron tablets

Soola · 12/09/2019 17:10

Berocca melts if I need a quick boost.

I also have a power nap most days and that gives an immense recharge!

Try magnesium, or you may be lacking in Vitamin D

Please ask your doctor to check your vitamins D levels. I was soooooo tired all the time. I feel like a new woman after treatment.

nonmerci · 12/09/2019 17:13

Coffee Grin

happypotamus · 12/09/2019 17:31

Yes to vitamin D. I felt like I was dying of exhaustion last year, but thought it was a reasonable level of tiredness given my crazily busy shift work and my nonsleeping child. I went to the GP about other stuff and had a blood test that showed a very low vitamin D level. I am still tired now 6 months after starting treatment but much less so and probably more like an appropriate level of tiredness given how much sleep I miss out on.

LatentPhase · 12/09/2019 17:35

I take concentrace after every meal and separate magnesium
Vit d3 and k2
B12
Also good

Chathamhouserules · 12/09/2019 18:37

Get yourself checked for anaemia.

CocoLoco87 · 12/09/2019 18:37

Spatone iron sachets and rhodiola rosea

OooErMissus · 12/09/2019 18:40

What treatments are people getting for low vitamin D levels?

I assume by 'treatment', you mean something other than supplements?

IWouldPreferNotTo · 12/09/2019 18:44

Modafanil. Not entirely legit but it's very good.

Squiff70 · 12/09/2019 18:46

Super Green Tea tablets from Holland and Barrett. It's like legal speed for me. I can't take it now as I'm pregnant but when I wasn't it gave me a huge boost and got me through the day without being sluggish and sleepy all the time.

BBBear · 12/09/2019 18:50

You need to take K2 with Vit D (I think that’s what it’s called - i’m not at home to check)

You can usually get spray or pills that combine the two

LoonyLunaLoo · 12/09/2019 18:50

St John’s Wort

BBBear · 12/09/2019 18:50

Also try iron - if you can’t hack the tablets then try Spatone mixed with orange juice

cocomelon23 · 12/09/2019 18:52

Floradix is amazing

Shannith · 12/09/2019 18:53

Definitely get your iron levels checked. Prescription iron tablets worked - was already taking b12, vit D and magnesium

ThePhoenixRises · 12/09/2019 18:59

Floradix gets my vote too and it's all herbal, take a dose of Floradix followed by a glass of orange juice.

granadagirl · 12/09/2019 19:25

Got to be careful what I take as in venlafaxine SNRI
So NO
St. John wort
Modafanil ( caution- history of depression & MAY cause anxiety)

Keep meaning to get k2, as I just found out that you need this with d3

Dowser
Just read about concentrace
Sounds good, as we need minerals as well. So thanks

So for next month will try
Ashwagandha
K2
Concentrace minerals drops
Amazon order in progress 😀

Will also put other suggestions in my note apps. Thank you👍

Having folate bloods done so will ask for iron

My GP doesn’t offer Vitamin D blood testing. The local NHS decided that “everyone in the UK is low in vitamin D” so they have decided the blood testing is a waste of money.

Hmm
eeksville · 12/09/2019 19:29

.

CatSmize · 12/09/2019 19:32

Look into Magnesium Citrate or Glycinate. Most supplements contain Magnesium Oxide which has an absorption rate of only about 4% whereas the others are much better-absorbed.
