A newish friend has revealed they're a 'lady' husband is a lord.
I asked interested questions but it felt vague.
Is there a way to tell if it's genuine?

Tell her there's only one true Lord and his name is Jesus and see how she reacts Grin.

if they're genuinely posh they'd never actually tell you.

This. Diana, Princess of Wales, worked for an American family looking after their sprogs when she started dating ol' Chuck. Her boss had no idea she was born a 'Lady' until she found Di's chequebook from Coutts which had fallen out of her bag and down the back of the sofa and it read 'Lady Diana Spencer', but she had not told her she was the Earl Spencer's daughter. In fact, she didn't even tell them she was seeing him, she simply told her employer she might have to leave her employ as she was 'going away for the weekend' and the one she was going with might cause 'some press interest'. It was the Yank employer who asked her if it was Charles and if she were going to Balmoral.

Like Baron Trump? I. E. Not really a baron?

Lady Bird is my favourite

My DBro has various credit cards addressed to him as Baron Von Hissurname. He is not a Baron, nor does his surname include Von. He did it when he was about 20 for a laugh because it sounded great with the surname.

My mother and her family are listed in the peerage, but because she is the daughter and the way that titles are inherited, it stops with her. I am a lowly Dr (of veterinary medicine). But at least I earned my title rather than bought for 50p and 20 tokens from a cereal packet. 😂

Her husband could be a judge, some judges are lords and their wives addressed as lady...

If she mentioned it but was a bit vague could it be because she's trying to keep a lowish profile?

My aunty is a lady she is just a normal person just like me and you she was awarded an mbe by the Queen for her contributions to childcare in a deprived community she started an award winning nursery which she has managed for 50 years. So the person could of been awarded the title for something

DH's uncle has a life peerage and a seat in the House of Lords after an illustrious career in science, so his wife is a Lady. They don't use their titles in every day life AFAIK.
