DD's homework for today. Ideas?

Given yesterday. Wear trainers and bring a small construction site toy.

First I can do, second.... DD has never been interested in vehicles, DS stopped playing with his about 4 years ago. I did a clear out last month and all his metal vehicles went. I think he kept a tractor, but don't know if that counts. (And DS doesn't want DD to take it to school)

Any Lego bricks? You could reasonably insist that bricks are found on a construction site!

Todaythiscouldbe · 12/09/2019 06:03

Ask a friend to take an extra one. Or ask on your class/school page if you have one

BlueEyedEagle · 12/09/2019 06:03

If there's a nursery attached would they borrow you one for the day ?

ThereWere10 · 12/09/2019 06:27

Her best friend doesn't have any either and I don't have numbers for other parents. We don't have a class WhatsApp. Nursery is a separate building.

DS's for Monday is to take a shoe box. I don't keep shoeboxes Confused

Confused

For the shoe box, we went to the shops and asked around, some didn’t have any, but others seemed to have a good supply.

Could she draw a construction site toy instead?

BlueEyedEagle · 12/09/2019 06:32

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat why the Confused?

My dd has a nursery attached and they were more than happy to borrow her a fireman costume when she needed one for school.

browneyesblue · 12/09/2019 06:33

Bucket and spade?

Ilovefriday · 12/09/2019 06:34

Do you have any plastic play tools like a saw or a hammer? If not maybe cut one out from cardboard, cover the "metal" bit with foil and colour the other end with felt pen?

PullingMySocksUp · 12/09/2019 06:36

Because it should be ‘lend’, Blue but I’m sure she knew what you meant.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/09/2019 06:38

I’ve never heard someone say ‘borrow you’ when they mean ‘lend you’. It sounds like a sentence a toddler would construct when they don’t quite know the difference.

No. Have real ones though Grin

Bucket and spade is too large - she says it needs to be something small. I was just about to get her to make something but DS has found a traffic cone. That will have to do!

That's what I'd do, but I'm currently housebound. Not seeing MIL til after he needs it.

DH used to say that but English isn't his native language. In his native language "lend" and "borrow" are the same word.

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat seriously!

It's how I talk, get over it!

ThereWere10 · 12/09/2019 06:47

As is to learn and to teach. Really grates. Can you learn me...

OP posts:
motortroll · 12/09/2019 06:51

It's really common in some areas of the uk. Can't believe you've never heard anyone say it!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/09/2019 06:52

I obviously don’t live in one of those areas. Grin

BlueEyedEagle · 12/09/2019 07:05

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat did you come on this thread to help the op or just to pick faults?

Lwmommy · 12/09/2019 07:09

Print or draw a picture of one, stick to cardboard and cut out.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 12/09/2019 07:10

Oh calm down Blue.

BlueEyedEagle · 12/09/2019 07:18

I am calm. Just pointing out that you haven't contributed anything helpful to the op and a bit confused why you are even still on this thread.

BusySittingDown · 12/09/2019 07:19

Just tell the teacher you don't have anything!

I'm sure she'll understand and have one that your DD can borrow.

Bunnybigears · 12/09/2019 07:23

I soon learnt after a few times stressing over 'homework' like this that it really doesnt matter if they dont take in a toy or wear trainers, the teacher will have some spare or she can share with another child.

motortroll · 12/09/2019 07:23

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat nor do I!

FinallyHere · 12/09/2019 07:30

A pencil is an essential construction site tool

Mostly for carpenters and joiners but still ...
