lovemenorca · 11/09/2019 11:24

Just received my statement for the year for gas and electricity with bulb

How does this compare with others?

3 bed. 2 children, 1 adult
We do not hold back from cranking up heating in winter and fairly regularly use a tumble dryer

Averages out combined at £108 a month

Basically the same as you...bulb, 2 adults, two kids, heating not all the time but not tight with it, tumble dry all winter, £100 a month

vickibee · 11/09/2019 11:47

2 adults, 1 kid about £1100 per annum, just switched supplier to try and save a bit.
We have a draughty 4 bed Edwardian townhouse with high ceilings so we are cold sometimes. Extra jumpers etc in out house

Two adults, two teens, Victorian 3 bed, tumble dryer in winter only, heating used moderately, £110 a month with Bulb.

HotChocolateLover · 11/09/2019 12:27

2 adults, 1 teen. £89pcm and electric. It’s a 3 bed semi.

HotChocolateLover · 11/09/2019 12:27

*gas and electric

Sweetheart1313 · 11/09/2019 13:13

3 bed semi, just me, £61 a month on average for my G & E (with Bulb). I do use my tumble dryer and dishwasher quite a lot, but I've been better with my heating since I had Hive installed last year and can control through the app. I used to waste quite a lot of heat before as I kept forgetting to change the manual timer Blush

lovemenorca · 11/09/2019 13:23

interesting

All similar ish usage and cost

I’m waiting for someone to come on as I’ve seen on other threads saying family of 6 using £17 a month on both!

Aye, that’ll be the same people who can make 18 meals for a family of six (including ravenous, rugby-playing teens) from one small chicken. Wink

RezCowgirl · 11/09/2019 13:55

Gas and electric on a pre payment meter, average £60 per month.

Mid terrace house with 2 adults who both work from home.

RezCowgirl · 11/09/2019 13:55

(with bulb)

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/09/2019 14:15

4 bed house, two adults, one teen plus another adult when not at uni. Month dual fuel direct debit £111 per month. Just got a refund of £79 for last year.

Almost never use the tumble dryer but do use everything else.

GreenwoodLane · 11/09/2019 15:12

5 bed semi.
2 adults
2 kids
No tumble dryer
Don’t superheat the house in winter but not tight either.
£96 per month combined.
Fitted new boiler last year, energy cost has reduced from £135.

lovemenorca · 11/09/2019 15:49

@GreenwoodLane
What boiler did you go for please? And arranged independently? Thanks

OP posts:
Animum2 · 11/09/2019 16:11

Only have electric and according to my yearly statement received this week spent £330 on ppm

GreenwoodLane · 11/09/2019 16:37

@lovemenorca

Worcester green star 29. Cost about £2k. Fitted by local, well rated company. Still broke down 2 days before Christmas tho, but covered with 10 year warranty. Someone out and fixed next day.

jackparlabane · 11/09/2019 16:42

About 160 a month - large Victorian house now with good insulation, need to keep warm and often wfh, rarely use dryer, 2 adults, 3 kids.

NoSquirrels · 11/09/2019 16:48

Bulb £110pcm, 4 bed that can be chilly, 2 adults (1 who WFH) 2 kids, no tumble dryer but plenty of appliances always switched on (to my chagrin) and we cook a lot and more baths than showers possibly.

It’s been lower but then the price fluctuations always seem worse with other companies than with Bulb where it seems transparent.

ExpletiveDelighted · 11/09/2019 17:07

We changed boiler too a couple of tears ago but also changed supplier and installed a Nest thermostat around the same time so its hard to know what has saved the money but we are about £20 a month down on our old bills.

AlexandraPeppernose · 11/09/2019 18:57

2 adults, 2 teens, 1 tween. Electricity only, economy 7, 1970s crap vent heating, tumble dryer. £155pm

NineInchSnails · 11/09/2019 19:41

Wow...

4 bed modern ish detached. Me, 3 children aged 14, 11 and 5.

£2300 a year here, £153 a month on electricity and an annual bill of approx £500 for oil (heating only in the colder months.)

I need to reduce this massively looking at what others pay!

zonkin · 11/09/2019 19:44

Size of house etc is not an exact science. Note your annual consumption (in units) down and then work from that. It's the only way to get an accurate comparison. Several comparison sites will quote you for you annual consumption. I switch every year or so.

TheClitterati · 11/09/2019 19:45

Op my stats are identical to you (I also love Menorca). 3 bed 3 story house, 1 adult, 2 kids. I also work from home. With Bulb. I pay £65pcm on DD. I was paying £80pcm and now have £300 credit To get us through the cold winter everyone is predicting.

TheClitterati · 11/09/2019 19:47

I don't have a tumble dryer
