Best Decaf Teabags?

swissmilk · 08/09/2019 13:41

I'm on decaf tea, tried a few to find nice ones, currently in Yorkshire Tea Decaf (gross).
Anyone recommend decaf teabags? I want an everyday tea, so not earl grey etc.
I don't like strong/brewed/builder tea, but I do want FLAVOUR!
Am willing to spend £££ for good stuff, but must be in bags.

Lidl is my fave at moment.
We have Tetleys at work & they are ok, too.

pinkstar01 · 08/09/2019 19:48

Twinnings everyday decaf is probably the best I've tried

bettyboo40 · 08/09/2019 21:44

I had a lovely decaf tea whilst in a cafe in Devon the other week. The brand was Miles. I'm not sure if it was a local brand but I haven't been successful in finding it in any supermarkets here.

Aldi decaf here too.

Smidge001 · 08/09/2019 21:52

Pg Tips is definitely my favourite. Though I preferred it when they were in pink boxes Blush. I'm sure the flavour isn't different of course.

People who think decaf Yorkshire Tea is horrible? Do you not like strong tea??

Fortnums do a decaf Royal Blend which is nice.

swissmilk · 08/09/2019 22:04

Have you got a link @Rosere ?

I'm a bit gutted because Sainsbury blue packet is getting so many votes....I have that at work and don't think it's all that?

@bettyboo40 Mr Miles is a local brand but you should be able to buy it online fairly easily. I really don't like them though, find them pretty tasteless although we do have incredibly hard water here so not sure if that's to blame

DominicCummingsGilet · 08/09/2019 22:29

@CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt thank you! Love that tea but I’m on decaf at the mo too so I’ll be stocking up!

Lowlandlucky · 08/09/2019 22:38

Lidl are just lovely and so cheap, i think 80 for 95p and co-op are a good second

Rosere · 08/09/2019 23:29

www.thompsonstea.com/our-teas/thompsons-decaf-tea Home Bargains actually sell it.

CatsForLife · 09/09/2019 07:34

Agree with PP who says it definitely depends on your water quality too. I’ve had better cups of tea in the US compared to those made with hard water in the south-east here. I’m up North.

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/09/2019 07:37

I think Yorkshire, PG and Tetley are OK, Lidl are grim and Clipper are OK but a bit weak, I'm using them currently as I do prefer the non-solvent based decaffeinating process.

Has anyone found a decent loose leaf decaff? We have switched to loose leaf for regular tea but loose leaf decaff is hard to find.

swissmilk · 09/09/2019 18:58

Reporting back because I am enjoying my first cup of Aldi decaf tea.
About a million times better that Yorkshire decaf tea, much fresher tasting!

MarshaBradyo · 09/09/2019 18:59

Clipper

MsFrosty · 09/09/2019 19:00

I love Yorkshire tea but cant get on with their decaf.
I prefer the pg tips or sainsburys own if I get decaf in. Sainsburys is better but I'm not often in there

LolaSmiles · 09/09/2019 19:02

Sainsbury's or Ringtons for me. Both are lovely. Ringtons have the edge for me.

circleorsquare · 09/09/2019 19:03

I love Yorkshire decaf but look for it on offer as it's a bit pricey for me!! It must all be a very personal taste.

Aragog · 09/09/2019 19:04

I'm going against the grain. Having tried lots of decaf options over the years I find that Yorkshire Tea ones are the ones that seem most like their non decaf versions. I prefer them to most of the ones posted above.

Aragog · 09/09/2019 19:05

I do think the water helps too - we have very soft water here.

AwdBovril · 09/09/2019 19:06

Twinings everyday decaf is the nicest, IMO. PG tips next best, much more affordable, but annoyingly the caffeine is removed using less pleasant chemicals. I shall look out for Clipper to try them out.

I really miss Lady Grey, I wish I could find a decaf version of that. Earl Grey just isn't the same.

NathansMummy0203 · 09/09/2019 19:09

PG tips or Lidl were my fave when I was pregnant

DejaVoodoo · 09/09/2019 19:16

I really like Tesco’s own brand ones! Have never tried any others, mind.

SciFiScream · 09/09/2019 19:59

I've tried so many and always, always come back to PG Tips.

stoplickingthetelly · 09/09/2019 20:07

Don’t bother trying Tetley decaf they’re terrible even though I like their normal tea.
