Nothing.

PotteringAlong · 03/09/2019 07:09

I was in a field picking blackberries today. Why would that elicit a response from anyone, assuming it’s not private land?

Saucery · 03/09/2019 07:09

Just picking blackberries like anyone else does this time of year?

I’d do nothing, why would I?

TurtleyLost · 03/09/2019 07:10

Nothing Confused

Why would the police need to know?

ThanosSavedMe · 03/09/2019 07:11

Why? So many people pick blackberries this time of year. How do you know it was a homeless person?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 03/09/2019 07:12

Seriously?

Saucery · 03/09/2019 07:13

Or was it you picking blackberries and saw him living rough? Your local council will be able to tell you organisations who can speak to him to see if he will accept any help.

TinyMystery · 03/09/2019 07:13

I went blackberry picking the other evening. Am I homeless?

EleanorReally · 03/09/2019 07:13

well he was obviously homeless, back pack on, unkempt,
anyhow i went back to the walk today and the police were there, asked if i had seen any one,
i said I had a year ago
they said yes that there was their last sighting and if i see him again to call 999 and he is vulnerable.

be a nosey neighbour is the answer

It’s blacberry time.

Giving you a heads-up, there will be people picking sloes in a few months for gin.

xyzandabc · 03/09/2019 07:13

Man picking blackberries. An activity many people do at this time of year.

I think there is some detail missing from the OP.
What makes you assume that he's homeless? Whether he is or isn't homeless, what does that have to do with him picking blackberries? And what were you checking the police website for?

If I saw someone picking blackberries, I'd probably say hello as I walked past. Nothing more nothing less.

Elodie2019 · 03/09/2019 07:14

Picking blackberries? I thought you were about to say that he was lying asleep/dead in the middle of it.

As an onlooker I'd do nothing at all.

If I owned the field and knew he was about to be trampled by some aggressive animal I'd let him know.
Otherwise, again, nothing.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/09/2019 07:14

I've been picking blackberries, so have a lot of people. It's not a crime unless it was private property.

Elodie2019 · 03/09/2019 07:15

Ah... update... OK then...

EleanorReally · 03/09/2019 07:15

i did say he was homeless,

OP posts:
EleanorReally · 03/09/2019 07:16

the title says he is homeless

OP posts:
xyzandabc · 03/09/2019 07:17

Ah, bit of a drip feed there OP. My response would still be the same though. And I wouldn't remember it a year later if the police mentioned it, so you have a better memory than me!

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/09/2019 07:17

If he's a vulnerable person who the police are actively looking for that's a completely different story.

ChangeItChild · 03/09/2019 07:17

If it was extreme weather, and I felt they were in a predicament, I'd call the local homeless helpline in our area.

Picking blackberries in average weather I'd leave him alone.

slipperywhensparticus · 03/09/2019 07:17

Apparently homeless I see some scruffy people who have better houses than me

Elodie2019 · 03/09/2019 07:17

Was he known to you as homeless/vulnerable before you called the police?

If you saw my DH out on a walk you'd assume he was homeless going by your description.

Ounce · 03/09/2019 07:18

I’d applaud his initiative.

AmIThough · 03/09/2019 07:18

If the police said to me "have you seen a man matching this description?" I wouldn't respond with "I did a year ago" because that's irrelevant...

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 03/09/2019 07:20

Phoning the police every time you see an unkempt person with a backpack isn't the answer at all Confused

EleanorReally · 03/09/2019 07:20

yes AMI, but it turns out it was relevant as it was their last sighting,
