what would you do if you saw a homeless person in a field?

i came home and checked the police website

Eh? You saw him a year ago and the police were out yesterday looking for him? After he was last known as sighted being there to their knowledge also a year ago?... Am I missing something here?

Tbh if I saw unkempt person with a backpack in a lonely place when I’m on my own (city or countryside) I would walk away fast just in case.

I live in a rural area and FWIW I would be surprised to see a homeless person but unless they were hanging around for a number of days (in which case I would offer them food/drink/a sleeping bag or ask if there was anything else they needed), it wouldn’t occur to me that I was supposed to do anything unless they were clearly unwell or delusional. Obviously if I then found out that a person I had seen was missing and vulnerable, I would then give the police information.

What? I don't understand this at all. You saw him last year picking blackberries? So when did you check police website, last year or now?

Can you maybe word your post again, from the beginning? No one can work out what you are on about.
