Breast enlargement surgery under 18

Wanted a bit of advice. My 17 year old daughter has small breasts and feels self conscious about them. My sister in law has taken it upon herself to take her to GP to get consultation about breast enlargement, against my wishes and accuses me of not supporting my daughter. I am quite happy with my daughter going to GP, taking charge of her own health and making her own appointments (she's done it since she was 15 anyway) but I feel like sister in law is coercing her into having surgery at too early an age. Why not wait till she is 18 and can make up her own mind? I should add, both my sister in law's daughters had breast enlargement surgery under 18. At doctors appointment sister in law did all the talking and requested that GP refer my daughter to her daughter's consultant for a further investigation. Any thoughts? Is she over stepping an unwritten boundary? Or just supporting my daughter?

@PoppingOneOutIn2020 I'm also 23 with 34GGs and I'm equally utterly miserable about them. Didn't leave the house for 2 weeks after the only bra that fit me broke and I couldn't afford another one until I got paid as they're ridiculously expensive and impossible to go out in public without wearing one Sad

Far too young. Unethical to even refer at this stage. As a 17 year old I had 28aa breasts. By 22 they were 34E. She's still growing. Give it a few years

Surprised people go to the doctor’s because of small beasts.

Very odd, in my book.

@Loveyou3000 its horrible isn't it?

I get really touch and annoyed with friends comments like "I'd love to have boobs like yours" no, you really bloody wouldnt!

It's like people think were joking or exaggerating about hating them. As if if you have big boobs then your life must be blissful.

Get on, shut up and fack off Angry

Breast enlargements on the NHS for a genuine deformity is one thing. If you google images of tubular breasts then I don't think anyone would begrudge a young girl surgery to correct it.

If your DD has been referred on the basis of a breast deformity that she isn't actually suffer from, surely the consultant will not consider her further.

Sil sounds crazy! She shouldn’t be getting breast implants...in fact no one should. They can be very dangerous and and can cause health problems. It isnt till years later that people have realised that their health problems were due to their implants.

I forgot to add that I am really surprised that the GP didn't offer to get a nurse to chaperone so that they could examine the area to check for signs of possible tubular breasts and so that they could discuss her concerns and the next steps with your daughter in private behind the curtain or in a separate room (without overbearing SILs influence) before deciding to refer her.

She it totally out of order! I am not in favor of plastic surgery though. Even watching love island I kept thinking, what will those poor girls do when they want to breast feed? Will they pass on their body insecurities to their children. I don't know if breast enlargement makes breast feeding difficult by the way, I was just worried it might.
