Time for an annoying adverts thread!

Granted, it’s Summer hols and therefore I’m home more often (and therefore see more adverts).

HOWEVER: that bloody Vodaphone advert (woman in the red coat that splits into eleven thousand versions of herself) is on all the bloody time.

And today I have watched the ‘strings and things’ advert over and over. It’s all annoying things at once: random, random kid, repetitive, annoying music, leaching off popular TV hit.

GAAAHHH.

Oh yes the pretty incontinence pants that make dh get up and prance around singing “I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and gay” 😂😂😂(a la westside story)

Cocolapew · 28/08/2019 23:02

There's one on the radio and I think I heard it on the telly la6dy night. No idea it's what is for, something financial (?).
It's a woman doing stand up and talking about monopoly and not being able to afford to live in London.
She had the most annoying voice ever.

CampfireZen · 28/08/2019 23:22

The Boots 'Summer Ready' ad a few months ago drove me mad, plus it was repeated so flipping often.

However, somebody added Theresa May's...um...individual 'dancing', alongside the two women prancing around in the sea, and it's mesmerising!!!

GoCompare opera man gives me the rage in everything he features in.

Novia · 29/08/2019 08:01

Those unbelievably awful Olay adverts with the influencer-type couple 'bantering' about who had the best skin. Gave me the rage

prampushingdownthehighst · 29/08/2019 08:38

The toothpaste one where all she has is a fridge full of peppers!
Is that the "bum" one?
So bloody annoying

ourmamageddon · 29/08/2019 08:50

@Novia yes!!

ourmamageddon · 29/08/2019 08:51

& wtf is wrong with children's toys these days - can someone explain why there are 7 million 'poopsie' adverts on kids tv?!

Wilberforce2 · 29/08/2019 08:51

@martingoresnipplechain yes that one, I cringe for her every time it's on!!

Heatherjayne1972 · 29/08/2019 09:01

Yy to the Tena pants ooops moment - it’s always always aimed at women
Do men not have any oops moments?

willowmelangell · 29/08/2019 09:04

Another one with a 'Sunlife' twitch. In my head I am saying, 'How dare you walk a muddy box of muddy parsnips through my nice clean house. Can't you have left it on the sink like a reasonable person. Pushy git! '
and
'It's June, Dad.',
'No it's not, it's August, I'm not senile yet you know.'

SlightlyWizened · 29/08/2019 09:10

Meercats-I've really had enough now.
The BT one about broadband all over the house.

cobblers123 · 29/08/2019 09:10

Any advert for constipation, bad breath or diarrhoea as it seems in TV advertising land, only women ever suffer from these ailments.

MajorFaffington · 29/08/2019 09:23

@prampushingdownthehighst Yes Angry

Chickenish · 29/08/2019 09:32

I had watched the ad warning children that they don’t know who they are talking to online which had a creepy man talking in a babyish voice. Then I saw the haribo ad. Exactly same voice! OMG.

Zaphodsotherhead · 29/08/2019 09:51

Oh dear god the bingo ones! 'Are you gonna bingo...' well, no, because I barely make enough to get by as it is, gambling online really isn't the social, everyone laughing together activity you make it seem, and, as with any online gambling, I cannot be sure that it's not entirely rigged. Thank you.'

And the funeral plan ones that show you the costs of a funeral and try to alarm you by factoring in things like costs of accommodation for relatives that you generally don't have to pay anyway...

Deathraystare · 29/08/2019 10:30

The haribo adults doing baby talk freaks me out

Similarly, the scary AA singing child, the way her mouth moves gives me the creeps..

Sorry I love those two. I am such a kid!

Deathraystare · 29/08/2019 10:32

I just get annoyed at some channels when you have just seen the advert then straight afterwards a somewhat shorter version is played.

The really long ones such as it played on Quest red for Ktel records. Goes on and on.

Also all the bloody Sky/Prime/whatever ads for channels I do not have!

TheZeppo · 29/08/2019 12:17

I assume because the PPI adverts are winding down that’s why all the bloody ‘has an accident?’ ones are ramping back up!!

OP posts:
Bagadverts · 29/08/2019 12:25

I really don’t like the Haribo one.

Philip Scoffield one is creepy, and hasn’t worked as I can’t remember the product.

longtompot · 29/08/2019 12:46

The Post Office travel insurance ones. "Climb a mountain? With your condition? A walking holiday? In the Andes? With your condition?" Feck off.

The Oral B 'but how do I keep my mouth healthy?' Insert tinkly laugh Envy

AllBellsNoWhistles · 29/08/2019 12:48

ALL the adverts annoy the life out of me, but especially....
Any personal hygiene products. Shampoo / conditioner / toothpaste / hair colourant / sanitary protection.
Any cleaning product, particularly anti bacterial sprays. Domestos, kills all known germs dead! Well of course they're bloody dead, you've just killed them!

The ads of the 70's and 80's were at least funny / entertaining with strap lines that stay with you forever.

The adverts since just encourage you to commit an act of violence against the TV.

Iamafanoffans · 29/08/2019 12:58

The andrex how clean does it make you feel ones are dreadful too. Annoying kids coming up with nonsensical twaddle about being as clean as a baked bean on a surfboard... It means nothing..

Neilsfavouritechilli · 29/08/2019 13:38

My advert wrath is currently firmly centred on that Key equity release one with the awful song and dance routine. I also hate the "how do I keep my mouth healthy" woman with her dentist who has exactly the same hair colour. Oh and Owen thingy on his fucking massive sofa. Oh and the "and yer doooo" woman off the nationwide advert. Blimey it feels good getting all of that out.

dayslikethese1 · 29/08/2019 13:40

Agree fans tbh any adverts with cutesy children give me the rage.

BinkySodPlop · 29/08/2019 15:05

Just seen the Oral B one. Since they've removed the bit about not knowing that they did toothpaste, they now have annoying woman sitting in a dentist chair, looking at a tube and saying "toothpaste?!" like it's the first time she's heard of the concept. Smile. She still has a fridge full of nothing but peppers, tho.
