Cold compress and antihistamine

WorraLiberty · 26/08/2019 14:49

Piriteeze and Sudocreme for me.

Brilliant stuff.

CassianAndor · 26/08/2019 14:49

Antihistamine and hydrocortisone cream.

Ice on them will give immediate relief. Antihistamine tablets will obviously also help, as will a topical antihistamine like Azaron

joystir59 · 26/08/2019 14:53

Those little clicky devices that administer a tiny electric shock to the skin. They really kill the itch

Cornettoninja · 26/08/2019 14:57

Antihistamine and hydrocortisone cream

This and ice, preferably covered so doesn’t wash the cream off. A cold shower might be better if you’ve got them on your back though.

I keep meaning to invest in one of those clicky things.

RavenLG · 26/08/2019 15:02

Afterbite stick like this. It stings like an absolute arsehole but if it’s got an open sore to it it words great. DP gets bitten all the time and finds this stuff good.

antihistamine tablets and witch hazel on a cotton wool pad. I don;t find the clicky things work at all.

ew1990 · 26/08/2019 15:45

I use the alcoholic hand gel. stings like a bitch but stops the itching

AuditAngel · 26/08/2019 15:47

Germolene cream

originaldomesticgodess · 26/08/2019 15:47

Zapper thingy (Boots) and Afterbite.

KnittingSister · 26/08/2019 15:57

Instant therapy: smack them, the sting takes away the itch. Then antihistamine cream, then garlic and avon moisturiser for repellent.

squeaver · 26/08/2019 15:59

Anthisan is a good cream

newtb · 26/08/2019 16:04

Those cyrstal deoderants - peirre d'alun - in Franch, sorry don't know the English for it. Works on those swollen fly bites.

poorbuthappy · 26/08/2019 16:08

Clear nail varnish.

TryTry123 · 26/08/2019 16:09

Neat lavendar oil

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 16:22

I've been eaten alive this weekend and have found neat tea tree oil in conjunction with antihistamines has worked. I never used to get bitten before having kids. I'm now a bug smorgasbord, apparently.

Mrsjayy · 26/08/2019 16:25

Anti histamine and calamine cream works a treat,

Sarahlou63 · 26/08/2019 16:30

Your own saliva will kill an itch! Spit and grit (your teeth for a minute) and itch has gone. If that doesn't work, antihistamines, if you have an allergic reaction then a steroid will sort it out.

BeerandBiscuits · 26/08/2019 16:30

Another vote for Afterbite. As PP said, it stings like hell initially which weirdly I enjoy, pain feels like such a relief after horrendous itching.

KurriKurri · 26/08/2019 16:49

I use Boots own brand sting and bite relief antihistamine cream - stops the itching very quickly.

Outsomnia · 26/08/2019 17:03

Dip a teaspoon in boiling water. Hold breath and apply the back of the very hot spoon to bites, hold for as long as you can bear. Itch Gone within a minute or two.

Careful with the heat level of the spoon, but as hot as you can bear. This really works, and now all our family use it for the mozzies when abroad.

A one a day anti histamine is good too every day whether you need it or not, the non drowsy version.

Best of luck!

Accountant222 · 26/08/2019 17:14

The peppermint foot spray from Bodyshop, is bloody brilliant, I found out by accident, spraying hot feet whilst having bites on ankles

mononokeswolf · 26/08/2019 17:22

My favourite anti-itch remedy is to cover the mozzie bite with a plaster as soon as I realise I've been bitten. Unfortunately it's only effective if you haven't been absent mindedly scratching it all evening/night, so probably useless for the bites you've got but hopefully useful for future ones!

Anti-histamines, hydrocortisone, sudocreme, clicky thing don't provide much respite for me, only avoiding scratching them does and I can get rid of the plaster/s after a couple of days. It doesn't look great on bare legs but then neither do the great swollen welts that mozzie bites otherwise turn into on me.

mononokeswolf · 26/08/2019 17:23

I might try afterbite! Sounds like it could be good.
