Where do you buy your pre teens clothes?

My DD is 11 and quite broad in the back so I need to get her a winter wardrobe age 12+ really....discovered recently on the high street that age 12+ clothes are not included in many shops, and where they were, the clothes were pretty 'tarty/cheap' looking (maybe this is just the fashion for teenage girls at the moment?) with very limited choice.

Could anyone guide me to a store (online is fine) that has a decent tasteful range of teen/pre teen clothes?

TIA

Dd1 tends to go for pretty classic and tasteful clothes and we get a lot from h and m

hereforasillygoosetime · 25/08/2019 17:08

Ooh h and m! Do you order online, or have they got a good selection in store?

H&M, M&S have a teen range online (angel, or did at least), but don't discount petite ladies as they often fit better if they aren't standard sizing.

Next may go larger online too, they used to. Tesco goes to 14 as does Asda

We're in this stage too. DD is 12 but tall and broad shouldered.
She also dislikes the trendy brands - such as hype, Hollister, etc.
So, I have found things she likes from M&S (nice leggings) Primark, H&M and the odd thing from Next. She has changed a lot in terms of the types of clothing she will wear - it's mostly leggings and t-shirts now.
She like Sketchers trainers. Declined Nike as too many other kids wear them.

TryingAndFailing39 · 25/08/2019 17:10

I’ve got children ranging from 7 to teenage and there clothes are pretty much all from h and m! I’d go into the shop with her though as the sizing can be a bit erratic.

Beamur · 25/08/2019 17:11

A lot of shops - such as Next, M&S sell larger children's sizes online rather than in store. Sainsbury's TU clothing is ok too, good for basics like t-shirts and jeans if you don't want to spend so much. Goes up to age 14.

TryingAndFailing39 · 25/08/2019 17:11

*their not there!

Fudgenugget · 25/08/2019 17:13

Another one for H&M, also, eBay, and online t-shirt shops likes Redbubble (my girl loves popular culture logos) and next.

Ihatesundays · 25/08/2019 17:14

Also Agree with h and m. We are still just able to buy from Fat Face and Landsend (through Debenhams online). We are about to outgrow them though.
I get the odd bits in supermarkets - mostly Morrison’s.
It’s a difficult age though and DD does not want to wear things like crop tops etc.

Fudgenugget · 25/08/2019 17:19

We also stumbled across a Seasalt Cornwall in Tunbridge Wells recently which was having an excellent sale. Dd found a lovely dress reduced from £65 to £25 so it's sometimes worth the rummage. They do a petite range too. But, sale time only.

H and M or hand me downs

CarolDanvers · 25/08/2019 17:26

Gap, H&M and cheap shorts and vest tops from George. She's not at all precious about clothes and prefers George summer stuff above all others.

RedskyLastNight · 25/08/2019 17:30

H&M and New look are the best at catering for the teen and pre-teen markets.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 25/08/2019 17:39

DD2 (13) likes Mango Kids & Zara Kids for nicer stuff otherwise she shops in Primark & H&M.

DeanImpala67 · 25/08/2019 17:42

Ebay, for the Roxy girls hoodies she loves and Nike trainers. Also for Boden shorts which come up large. M&S for jeans as she fits in their 11-12 at the mo. Tshirts/tops from H&M or sports shops, some bits from campung shops as well mainly fleeces and some lightweight cargo shorts/trousers. Tesco and Sainsbury's for a few things but not a lot now she is older. It's a very in between age (11/12) and there doesn't seem to be one place that caters for eveything anymore, clothes shopping was easier (and cheaper) when she was younger!

Darksideofthemoon19 · 25/08/2019 17:43

We love Zara, H&M mostly.

lorn195 · 25/08/2019 17:45

@Fudgenugget seasalt is good, shame you don't live in Cornwall as they do a end of lines shop near me 😢, it would have been perfect.

hereforasillygoosetime · 25/08/2019 19:14

Thank you so much everyone! A relief to find some clothes for her that aren't all crop tops and garish colours/patterns Grin

New Look range called 9-15 is great.

NavyBlueHue · 25/08/2019 19:32

Primark Womend section. DD 13 buys sizes 4-8 depending on the item or 2XS etc.

NavyBlueHue · 25/08/2019 19:32

*Womens obviously Blush

NavyBlueHue · 25/08/2019 19:33

Pricier options favoured by DD and friends include Hollister and Victoria Secret PINK.

spongemumnudiepants · 02/09/2019 09:38

H and m, next or the supermarkets during the weekly shop.

I once made the mistake of taking her to primark 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ we came away with all hot pink, glitter, sequins , unicorns and a 'mer mazing' dress. She loves it . Mum and dad thought they were incredibly tacky.

Steviestamborine · 02/09/2019 10:22

New look and H&M mainly. Occasionally supermarket

AuditAngel · 02/09/2019 10:28

H&M is my preference for DD1 (12) especially as their cotton basics are 3 for 2, great for leggings, especially. She likes New Look, but 8 think it is expensive for the quality. DD also fits ladies size 8 (although waist is always too big), so petite stuff from most places works too.
