Where can I buy nice weighted blankets that don’t cost £100’s??

Really want to get a couple. Have an autistic dc so think he would benefit as he’s always under a blanket. Other dc suffers from anxiety and my sleep is shit. I can’t make one myself and don’t want to even try to be honest as I have no equipment etc etc. I want one of the lovely soft ones I keep seeing but they are literally hundreds of pounds and is like one for all three of us! I will only get one to start with though just to see how dc react to it. Where did you get yours and how much was it please?

Shelve Iv never heard of that website.... why are they so cheap?

I’ll have a look at amazon thanks summer. Does yours have a cover? How do you keep it clean as presumably they can’t go in the washing machine?

Aliexpress ships from Asia. Just take a good look at what you're buying, I've had some bargains when being careful.

I’ve got one from Amazon. It was £79.99 and can be machine washed on the hand wash cycle (cool & low spin). They sell different weights (the one you buy depends on the weight of the person using it). There are loads on Amazon at that sort of price.

You do realise it's not safe for children to sleep under these blankets ? Also have an autistic child and the occupational therapist told us this 👍🏻

There are lots on Amazon around the £70 mark - I was looking into them recently. I scrimped and made my own - bought two flat sheets, a huge 10kg bag of rice and spent a couple of afternoons at the sewing machine.

Meant to add that obviously you can't wash my cheapskate version but I wanted to trial them for cheap and then if I really like it, then maybe I'll invest in a proper one!

Mine is for an adult, so not an issue for us but important to flag up.

Costco have them for 50 quid - they're 7 kilos though, so definitely for adults not kids.

We've just spot-cleaned ours, but it has a removable cover that's just like a normal fleecy blanket.

@EntirelyAnonymised and the heat aswell I think children can quite quickly overheat , we looked at one but didn't really see the point Smile

They are supposed to be used to get said child to sleep and then remove it , not to be on them all night due to overheating/suffocation

Interesting,.... no ones told me that. At what age are they then suitable to sleep with? When they turn 1&?? I know under 2’s can’t use them but my dc are tween and teen?

I'm not sure tbh I'd maybe contact your local sleep clinic or ot , my sons 6 so younger than yours

I’ll speak with eldest school when he goes back (special) and ask OT. I can’t see how they would over heat with a weighted blanket and not be able to push it off anymore than normal blankets and duvets? Providing the weight is correct for them of course.

Don’t you need to be a member to use Costco? They are miles from me but would happily have a trip out to one if I can use without a card?

@SweetPetrichor you can use polly pellets which can be bought from eBay instead of rice and then you can machine wash it.

sospan are they actually in the Costco stores or just online , I’d like to get one for my adult dd but she’s not convinced actually feeling it might convince her .

I have 2 v expensive rocabi weighted blankets.

But I much prefer this £70 job.

It had the weight but not the bulk.

If anyone’s near NW London, I’m looking to get rid of a Rocabi as the stitching is coming loose.
