She's finally relaxed after gcse results and would like something to fiddle with to while away the next week or so. She likes cross stitch and used to love making those little paper outfits from klutz when she was younger! I'm totally non crafty Blush so have no idea what she might like other than maybe colouring?

Can you look at somewhere like Hobbycraft for some kits. I used to like silk painting, ceramic painting, making pompoms.

BendingSpoons · 22/08/2019 17:23

Should have said making pompoms is easy, just need card and wool, although might be a bit simple.

Origami? I liked it at around that age.

We have been given a load of beads and I bought some jewellery elastic and are making bracelets and stuff. Ended up going through old, unloved jewellery and using those as well to make them look a bit more fun, modern and wearable...

Azeema · 22/08/2019 17:33

Friendship bracelets. It’s knotting with embroidery thread.
Can learn lots of patterns.

unweavedrainbow · 22/08/2019 17:39

Does she fancy knitting or crochet? It’s not hard and there’s lots of fun and modern kits around now; it’s currently very fashionable. Have a look at wool and the gang or we are knitters for fun knits.

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 22/08/2019 17:41

Crochet is easy to pick up. You can make cute little beanie hats quite quickly.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 22/08/2019 17:43

Needle felting? You can litterally just sit their stabbing some wool fleece on a sponge you can get kits in hobby craft.

Beading and frindship braclets are a good one for just fiddling

Floralnomad · 22/08/2019 17:44

Not a craft but you can get some really great adult (16+) Lego sets , they have a particularly beautiful treehouse at the moment .

AwkwardPaws27 · 22/08/2019 17:45

Origami! Cranes are relatively simple, very rewardingly and you can get some gorgeous paper (or blank papers to colour!)

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 22/08/2019 17:47

Some of these kits are quite cheap www.hobbycraft.co.uk/sewing/needle-felting/needle-felting-kits

The adult paint by numbers are brilliant.

Knitclubchatter · 22/08/2019 18:38

Macrame

Ligresa · 22/08/2019 18:45

Great suggestions thank you. She loves Lego but it's so expensive and also she completes them so quickly!

I like the sewing sets Hobbycraft do in the kids section where the sewing holes are pre cut so it makes it easier and neater to do. I sometimes enjoy cross stitch to if it isn't too much of a complicated pattern. Other things I find relaxing are the fancy colouring books, jigsaws and Lego. My husband does Airfix models.
I never got the hang of knitting or crochet which I am sad about.

Stroller15 · 22/08/2019 18:48

I used to love covering journals in fabric with padding, ribbon etc. I also still enjoy crocheting

Tie dye?
I used to tie dye worn out clothes to make them a bit more exciting.
Or applique'/embroidery...both are a bit trickier tho.

(I was into upcycling my clothes)

Ratbagratty · 22/08/2019 19:05

Latch hook kits are good for keeping busy and crafty.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 22/08/2019 19:09

Fabric paint (b&m do sets of them at a really great price) and a few cheap plain fabric items (t-shirts, plain Jean's, fabric tote bag) to create wearable masterpieces with? Mine loves just faffing with that kind of thing

spaniorita · 22/08/2019 19:10

Amigurumi crochet is where the funs at!!

Deco patch. I used to work for hobbycraft. So many teenagers came in and went out with this. The pretty papers the things to make. She will love it

Skinandbones · 22/08/2019 19:21

Hobbycraft, pick some beads and charms and elastic thread and make stacker bracelets. Might need a bit of glue on the knot.

Sadik · 22/08/2019 19:21

Not crafting, but my 17yo DD has got massively into cooking this summer. She's got the Rukmini Iyer (instagrammer) books & is working her way through them. Great for the rest of us not having to cook & getting interesting dinner!

Star801 · 22/08/2019 19:22

I loved ceramic painting at that age.
