Came home yesterday after a two night stay. What a lovely city full of lovely people. DH and I were there for a gig but ended up seeing pride, staying in an amazing hotel and having a blast. What a contrast to the London theatre trip we did a few weeks ago with DD where tramps were pissing in the streets and there was a general air of unease (go to London frequently and usually love it I must say)

I will definitely be going back.

I love Glasgow too, it's a great city. Edinburgh is a bit of a tourist museum piece, although it's fantastic too (but too many tourists). Glasgow is more authentically Scottish (or Irish!).

I went a few years ago with my Liverpudlian mother and she said much about it reminded her of Liverpool and the outlook of the people.

@berlinbabylon, I've said that about Liverpool / Glasgow to so many people! They do have similarities.

Yes, Edinburgh's a lovely city to visit - I've been several times and always enjoyed it - but I wouldn't want to live there. It's not got the same unpretentious, relaxed vibe as Glasgow.

I've lived in London my whole life but Glasgow feels like coming home. Weird, but true!

I was in Glasgow at the theatre on Saturday. It was an amazing atmosphere, all the pubs in the area were buzzing. I love Edinburgh too but it is very different. I'm quite fortunate to live less than an hour from both.

I’ve grew up in Glasgow, visit frequently for work and friends and family and have lived in Edinburgh for around 15 years, I work in the centre and have lived in various parts including Leith. In my experience, Edinburgh is much worse for visible homelessness and begging.

As a Weegie it warms my heart to hear you had a great time. For kids, check out the science centre, the tall ship and the transport museum.

100% agree Glasgow is friendlier than Edinburgh. I prefer going there for shopping —I hate the Fringe—
