Zero unless the new person I recruited wants to pop in. I feel a bit guilty that I was communicating with her quite a lot then my dad died and she's backed right off, bless her.

I will be spending a lot of time trying and failing to get on eaqa for the results (and those of the school I left last year, hoping my former groups do well) on Thursday. I brought all my stuff home on the last day knowing I wouldn't be in. INSET day will allow me to move the furniture back after my room's been painted, although I'm hoping it wasn't done, it didn't need it.

FoodieToo · 17/08/2019 21:37

i teach in Dublin. None. And won't go in until the first day back !

Banjodancer · 17/08/2019 21:38

Why don't you post this in Staffroom? You will shortly get a bunfight I expect.

PeopleMover · 17/08/2019 21:40

This will definitely turn into a teacher-bashing thread. MN hates teachers, especially teachers on their summer break.

Teachermaths · 17/08/2019 21:41

None..it's unnecessary.

Backtosxhool · 17/08/2019 21:41

Thought I had posted it staffroom? Oops 😬

None. I never do. I have kids and term time only childcare.

Wolfiefan · 17/08/2019 22:44

Please don’t.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/08/2019 22:45

None.
I bust a gut to get everything done in the last few weeks in July so I don't have to

lazylinguist · 17/08/2019 22:47

Dh has been in 9-3 every day this week and will be in 9-3 Mon to Thurs next week.

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/08/2019 22:53

I'll go in one day this week or next, purely to tidy my classroom in peace. There's nothing else that needs to be done on the premises, although I've been working on and off throughout the holiday. Learning the section of the new A Level that I'm teaching for the first time this year, and downloading resources for that. But I suppose if I'd done that in one chunk it would only have taken a few days, it's only taken ages because I'm doing a couple of hours at a time.

Most years I don't do any school work in the holidays, but for the past 3 summers I've had things to do because of the new A Level syllabus. I hope that next year I'll be back to relaxing all summer.

Thisismyhappyface · 17/08/2019 22:59

Dh is deputy head. He's been in at least 3 days a week (9-2ish) all summer, and longer days this week and next for exam results...

ShirazSavedMySanity · 17/08/2019 22:59

I’ve been in for two days to tidy the classroom and sort displays. I’ve also worked at home for two full days getting ready for September and trying to work how how best to support the children with additional needs in my class next year.

AmazingGrace16 · 17/08/2019 23:00

Too many already and still a mountain of work to do for September

countdowntonap · 17/08/2019 23:02

I’ll go in for an hour on results day, by choice, to celebrate with the students. Other than that, I’m not going in at all - it’s THE HOLIDAYS!

Alwaystimeforcakeandtea · 17/08/2019 23:05

Primary teacher. 8-5 one day per week so far with work at home a few hours per week too.

bearfood · 17/08/2019 23:15

Results day, that's it! My grandson was born on A Level results day and I can't think about anything but him right now Grin

Flurgle · 17/08/2019 23:23

Did about 7 days of mornings to get my room ready.
Working for a few hours every day this week to get planning and leadership stuff done so I can have the last week off.
Did do a fair bit in the last week of term.
I like to be ready- last year I wasn’t fully prepped and it was horrible.

Teachermaths · 18/08/2019 08:41

@Thisismyhappyface

Your dh is working too hard. That's a ridiculous workload. What is he actually doing in that time? My guess is preparing bullshit documents ofsted and others will never read.

Thisismyhappyface · 18/08/2019 08:46

@teachermaths

Yup, pretty much...

Youngandfree · 18/08/2019 09:35

I’m in Ireland. I haven’t been in yet and won’t step foot in school until the first day back! I couldn’t even if I wanted to! Gates are locked, alarms are on etc etc.

BelindasGleeTeam · 18/08/2019 09:37

One so far. Probably two more this week plus I've started opening the laptop in evenings now sorting out more KS3 SoW for the coming year

Corneliawildthing · 18/08/2019 09:40

We have had workmen in school all summer. I went in on Friday as I couldn't possibly have the classroom ready for the kids starting otherwise. I had to remove other people's stuff from my room and hunt around the school for my stuff. Workmen had judged chucked everything all over the place Angry

Moonflower12 · 18/08/2019 10:04

Going in to put my classroom straight and do displays - at least one day next week. And to sort out drawers, pegs etc.

shithappens123 · 18/08/2019 10:04

Why should we go in? Do people who aren’t teachers go into work during their holidays?

I’m enjoying chilling too much although I notice that my non teacher friends are praying for the hols to be over 😎
