I just used a sieve to dry my hair...

And it did a better job on my curls than a defuser ever has. More volume and better definition!

I really didn't expect much from it but I hate my hair drying naturally, it's long, thick and the dc think it's great fun to pull out of my scalp. My defuser met its demise under my toddlers arse, thank god for nappy cushioning! And I found this DIY on good old google. Think I'll stick with the sieve method now! 😂

This thread is actually making me laugh!
Obviously, as a full grown literate adult, I know how to spell sieve, I don't see it written down often. So my brain is pronouncing it 'seeeeeve' every time it appears. Think Manuel! So the whole thread sounds hilarious when read in my head!

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 16/08/2019 17:35

Thanks for all the lovely comments, it's rather rare me and my hair get along so I'm rather enjoying preening ::twirls::

@DropZoneOne Aldi moisture conditioner and Wilco 50p gel. I'm cheap, and apparently so is my hair Wink

Twirl away TheBabyAteMyBrain I would never stop twirling if I was youGrin.

I'm confused. Do you pull the hair through the holes like those old rubber caps they used to do dye jobs with at the hairdressers??
Or scrunch it up inside the seive? If so, presumably section by section?

pastyballbag · 16/08/2019 17:46

HOW would you do this Confused

SconeofDestiny · 16/08/2019 17:48

To dry very curly hair, it's best to just let it sit in the diffuser and don't twiddle it at all.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/08/2019 17:50

Pasty i don't know! That's why I'm so confused?? I think if I scrunched my hair up under a metal hat and blow dried it, it would come out looking like bed head hair.

Bourbonbiccy · 16/08/2019 17:52

OP is your hair naturally a bit curly to start with ?

regularbutpanickingabit · 16/08/2019 18:00

I was trying to work out how to pack a bulky diffuser and now I am just going to pack a sieve that I can stuff with socks and doesn't weigh a thing compared to the bloody hairdryer. Genius!!

Lowlandlucky · 16/08/2019 18:01

OP,i take it you too get people asking if they can touch your hair ? Drives me mad when total strangers ask if they can touch my hair, happen to my DGD as well

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 16/08/2019 18:17

I washed, applied gel as usual and just plopped sections of hair into the sieve, moved sieve to sit on the side/top/back of my head and used the hairdryer on a medium setting. I was honestly very sceptical if it would work but was actually very impressed. It gave more volume at the roots than drying naturally (hate this, hate wet hair flopping about my face and the dampness always aggravates my eczema) and more definition than the defuser ever did.

@Lowlandlucky yup, or not even asking just grabbing a handful Hmm why do people do this?!

@Bourbonbiccy yeah it is.

Regularbutpanickingabit I have a collapsable diffuser like this. It's not as good as the Diva Pro but it's much easier to pack.

TheBabyAteMyBrain, are you using the conditioner as a cowash?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 16/08/2019 22:07

@ThatLibraryMiss yeah, I stopped using shampoo years a go as it did nothing for my hair. I don't follow the CGM as tbh it absolutely confuddled me and I haven't got the energy to look for products that do or don't contain ingredients. I just use conditioner to wash, a small amount put through with fingers after scrunching in a t-shirt and scrunch in Wilco basic gel.

Hairs in quite good condition so it seems to work for me.

Your hair is beautiful!

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 16/08/2019 22:14

After Ds buttslammed my original defuser had one of those silacone foldy ones mentioned up thread but I melted the plastic insert thingy Confused so got a universal one off ebay which wouldn't fit, spent a week cursing my hairdryer and drying hair naturally before finding the sieve!
