My parents used to take us on some fab holidays. They would budget about 6K for 5 of us in the 1990s.

Pre children DH and I spent about 5k with spending money on a two week tour (with 4 nights all inclusive at end) in Sri Lanka. Loved it.

With children we have our most expensive coming up. Spent £1500 on a three bed lodge in holiday park for summer holidays. Expect spending money will be another £500.

Honeymoon Miami 2015 including spending money I believe was about £6k maybe?

Going to NC this October and including spending money it will probably be £6.5k as there's 3 of us now.

In 1997 a boyfriend - neither of us had dcs - suggested we go to the Caribbean. I suggested a couple of packages for Barbados but he wasn’t happy and said he’d organise it. I gave him a budget of £1,000 for me & left him to it. We had a lovely 7 day holiday on Mystique.
I had no idea, I just went along with it. Grin

Three years later he admitted he’d spent £16k. On ONE week!

South Africa, Seychelles and The Maldives. They all came to about 5k so not sure which we spent the most on. Had an amazing time on all and glad we did them. We now have DC and won't be able to afford such holidays for long time now.

£80k plus flights!
We bought a house in florida and only ever went there twice.

icelollycraving · 14/08/2019 13:09

mintjulia was it amazing?! Did you stay with him for long after the holiday?

Mintjulia · 14/08/2019 13:26

We were together for a while but he was very "keeping up with the neighbours" and I'm not.

I think he found me a bit unambitious

Bluntness100 · 14/08/2019 13:28

12k on a watervilla in the Maldives, it was basically a thousand pounds a night to stay there.

But it was worth every penny,

Mintjulia · 14/08/2019 13:29

And yes, it was a lovely place, but for that sort of money, I'd want a longer time.

S0CKS · 14/08/2019 13:40

Weve budgeted £6k including spending money for las vegas. That will be the most ill have spent on a holiday and i intend to bring as much of the £4k spends home as possible no need to waste it just because we've got it

ThomasRichard · 14/08/2019 16:10

£5k for four of us to spend 12 days visiting different bits of China. The only regret I have is that we didn't spend more time there. Great holiday! Usually we spent less than £1k all-in on a UK break or Center Parcs in Europe.
