£5k

Lapland in Finland during Christmas. Lots of excursions and memories.

PinkBlossomInSummer · 12/08/2019 23:44

Necker Island is paradise, we visited a few years ago and I’d sell a kidney to go back! It was a surprise for my 50th.

Ilikeanimalsmorethanpeople · 13/08/2019 00:02

Some of these sound amazing!!

We spent just under 20k travelling the USA for 3.5 months a few years ago..money well spent!

flippedoff · 13/08/2019 00:20

This December, six of us emirates business class London to Sydney, five star stopovers Dubai and Abu Dhabi each leg, six bed house overlooking Sydney harbour booked for Xmas and nye. Nauseating cost. Am practically not leaving the house otherwise this year. I have an excellent private travel agent who gets fantastic deals and did save us some money compared to high street or online agents.

Grandmi · 13/08/2019 00:26

I was planning on spending about 10k on a lifetime trip to NZ and Oz in March but am now waiting for a granddaughter to be born in December!! You can never plan ahead 💕

Dowser · 13/08/2019 06:43

Not holiday but virgin upper class flights for two to Orlando..cost £8,250

Thankfully they were a prize
Lovely but never worth all that money

ivykaty44 · 13/08/2019 06:47

A year backpacking in the 80s
But still think it came in at under £10k for 2 of us

tisonlymeagain · 13/08/2019 06:48

£14k. Three weeks in America (California, Las Vegas etc) for four of us. Well worth it.

Kam610 · 13/08/2019 06:55

For our honeymoon we did a Canadian road trip and stayed in very nice hotels the whole way for 3 weeks. Cost about £11k but absolutely worth every penny. The memories I have from that trip will stay with me forever.

stayathomer · 13/08/2019 06:58

Just did the Disney thing. Including s pending etc was €3500. Had been talking about it for the last ten years and was amazing but still not sure my head can justify it all, think I regret it ( which I find so sad as the kids adored it).

ArtyFartyQueen · 13/08/2019 07:00

Our family honeymoon, Florida 3 years ago, around 11K! We had money generously given by family and then we saved the rest!

Greenteandchives · 13/08/2019 07:06

£18 k flying business class to Rio de Janeiro and staying in the Copacabana Palace Hotel, visiting Iguazu Falls, Buenos Aires, then flying to Santiago in Chile to pick up a cruise around Cape Horn, seeing penguins and visiting Tierra del Fuego, finishing up in Uraguay.
Eye watering lay expensive but worth it for the experiences.

burnoutbabe · 13/08/2019 07:13

Max £5k for last few holidays. That includes Tokyo and Hong Kong. Also Vegas and L.A. or normal 2 weeks in Orlando. That's for 2 of us and about normal for 2 weeks away in reasonable hotels (over motels but not posh) with flights and tickets for attractions plus food.
If we ever flew not economy that would add a ton.
Cruise around Alaska is probably going to exceed £5k as the excursions are PRICY. Plus that includes time in Canada and USA before and after cruise (may as well take advantage of having flown anyway and less risky due to possible flight strikes)

2 of us £6000 for 9 days in Greece. Best holiday ever.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 13/08/2019 07:28

Some of these prices are eye-watering. I don't know how people have that kind of money to spare.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/08/2019 07:41

Booked Aruba for next year and it's costing £4k for 2 of us. There will probably be ones that I spend more on in the future but I personally wouldn't ever pay to travel business class, I'd rather spend the extra on the actual holiday.

Wellhellojonsnow · 13/08/2019 07:49

To here...

sanantoniosantorini.reserve-online.net/about

Breathtaking views and we cannot wait to go back one day (probably not for another 20 years as it’s not a place for children 😂)

stucknoue · 13/08/2019 07:51

Spent $4k on a trip to Alaska 17 years ago so adjusted for inflation, though-no idea what I spent on some of our road trips through Europe as it was paid piecemeal over months. New man wants to take me on a dream cruise but I'm currently not sure, barely know him (he says we would get to know each otherWink)

Adversecamber22 · 13/08/2019 08:55

A month in America, approx 15k
10k on a med cruise last year.
Disney and Sarasota 6k

AuntieMarys · 13/08/2019 10:24

nigel people earn different amounts.
I couldn't have afforded it 20 years ago but can now I am retired.

caperplips · 13/08/2019 10:28

3 week honeymoon in the USA travelling including New York, San Francisco and LA - an amazing memorable trip!

Lightsabre · 13/08/2019 10:30

We have travelled extensively and my eyes water at the amounts when I tot up over 30 years of travelling. We have amazing memories though. We can't afford it so much now as we have a child and a mortgage and I'm so glad we travelled when we did as we're both slowing down and becoming more cautious and less adventurous.

Most expensive was 10K each on 6 months travelling around the world. Most expensive single trips were 3 weeks Miami/Florida coast/Disneyland 6K and the Galápagos Islands 5K.

Littlebluetinofdorcaspins · 13/08/2019 10:41

£12k on a holiday to Australia staying in some amazing places (Wolgan Valley, Jonah’s at Palm Beach and 4 or 5 other fantastic hotels), but it was a competition prize so we didn’t pay! Holiday we actually paid for - £1500 for 2 weeks in Tuscany.

Pipandmum · 13/08/2019 10:42

I have no idea how much it cost but we spent a month travelling around Australia. We stared in Perth, drove to Margaret River (getting a $350 speeding ticket!), flew to Cairns, then to Sydney, on to Berry, back to Bondi Beach...stayed in nine different places and it was fab. Kids just under two and three and a half - not so fun flying with them but they were very well behaved! Trip of a lifetime.
