Get cut off by the tide

OP posts:
Lardlizard · 07/08/2019 10:26

Or there’s riptides or dangerous currents

Ummmm.... why?!

Wellmet · 07/08/2019 10:32

Absolutely no idea, sorry.
But following in case we're helping you to plan a murder.

Wenttoseainasieve · 07/08/2019 10:33

It's not really a beach, but morecambe bay is pretty dangerous for its quicksands and riptides.

...why do you want to know this?

Wenttoseainasieve · 07/08/2019 10:36

'The flood tide rushes into the bay faster than a man can run and seawater that surges up gullies between sand ridges can easily cut people off.

Royal guides have been appointed for hundreds of years to guide travellers safely across the deadly sands.'

ShirleyPhallus · 07/08/2019 10:37

But following in case we're helping you to plan a murder.

Good point. Be on the lookout for other posts from OP such as “where can I get quicklime from?” And “what vehicle is best for transporting a shovel, length of rope and a misc object of approx 11 stone”

SeaSaltandLime · 07/08/2019 10:39

Murder or suicide?

Concerned.

SlowAndWild · 07/08/2019 10:41

Weird. You should be asking which are the safest beaches! Is this the same OP who wanted a quick getaway advice?Shock

bouncingraindrops · 07/08/2019 10:41

Are you OK?

To answer your question, they are all dangerous. It's also a horrific way to die.

I will report your post due to concern.

tierraJ · 07/08/2019 12:34

Cornwall has some pretty but dangerous beaches.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/08/2019 12:36

Writing a book? I hope so and not the other suggestions.

If you want to know where you can get cut off by the tide for research for a book, search for news stories about people having to be rescued. Likewise for dangerous beaches. They come up every summer.

FlibbertyGiblets · 07/08/2019 12:39

Ones not lifeguarded. HTH. Smile

Campurp · 07/08/2019 12:44

Chapel Porth in Cornwall. I know of a group of siblings who were washed away and have personally watched in horror as friends nearly suffered the same fate years later.
The tide can go from being on the horizon, to at your feet in the blink of an eye.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/08/2019 12:48

Well seven people died in one day at Camber Sands a couple of years ago

crosstalk · 07/08/2019 12:50

OP I'm waiting to read the book. Please do it pseudonomously as John King and feature the Wash and lost treasure.

Any sea is dangerous if you don't check out tides, currents, weather, sands, temperature, lifeguarding and don't know what you can cope with or how to get out of a riptide. Or overestimate your swimming/sailing/kayaking abilities.

I'm sure a quick google or call to the RNLI will tell you the worst.

ChoudeBruxelles · 07/08/2019 12:52

ShirleyPhallus lots and lots of biological washing powder will get rid of a body (over time anyway). It literally eats it. Remember to change the u bend though as sludge might get stuck in there and incriminate the murderer.

Delatron · 07/08/2019 13:10

Ooh interesting question?

I think Camber Sands is dangerous as it’s very deceptive. Tide comes in quickly and cuts you off. Lots of people died there in recent years. Looks peaceful and calm.

Also around Cornwall (not sure specific beaches) you have to be careful of rip tides and large waves. Always feel a bit nervous swimming there with DC.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/08/2019 13:19

Weston Super Mare, Brean and Burnham on sea. (Basically any of the beaches on the Somerset side of the Bristol Channel. )
They have one of the biggest tidal variations in the world and all have dangerous sinking sands.

Damntheman · 07/08/2019 13:20

Tide can cut you off pretty fast at DurdleDor if you're not familiar with the place.

OrangeSamphire · 07/08/2019 13:21

Beaches like Whitsand Bay and Pedn Vounder are high risk for getting cut off. But beaches like Camber Sands or Fistral tend to have higher casualty rates because they are easier to get to and have throngs of tourists who don’t educate themselves about rip tides or quicksand.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/08/2019 14:15

Pigs will eat anything apparently.

Lardlizard · 07/08/2019 23:05

Sorry I’ve been gone so long, been a bit busy 😉😂only kidding!!
Of course I’m asking because I want to know where not to go !!!
