How best to get rid of fleas in house?

Other than burning it down, obviously.

I had a thread a few days ago where I said I really wasn’t coping, and to top it off it would appear the cats now have fleas.

How do I best nuke them? I have had flea bombs in the past, but I’m out of date. My laundry is all on the landing - do I need to redo it all? What do I do about soft furnishings? Will a bomb sort that too?

I don't follow the hoovering instructions with Indorex and it's worked fine. Cat has Advantage spot on and have only had to deal with fleas in house a couple of times in last 10 years.

And you don't need to wash everything.

I could have written this! I'm at my wits end with them now! I think I've got rid of them, but I still keep hoovering but they are coming back! I've been bitten so bad on my ankles!

I've had them about 3 weeks now, although they are no where near as bad as they were at the start they are still coming!

We had this a few years ago. The nippers hid inside the sofa. Now I have throws covering them so they cannot get inside. I would hire a carpet cleaner or get a firm in if you prefer, they will do all your upholstery as well. We had a spray from the vet for the furniture.

I am itching just thinking about it.

Thanks everyone - I am knackered now after blitzing the house!

I went to the vets first thing and got their treatment, no idea what it is - a little pippette thingy that goes on back of their neck? It’s prescription strength so hoping that kicks the cats arses into gear.

I’ve bleached and hoovered my socks off today - all laundry and bedding T either 60 or 90. I’ve sprayed with indorex all the blinds and skirting boards, then set off the flea bombs in each room too for good measure.

I’ll keep hoovering obsessively and hope like hell this has nuked them!

The lady in the vets said it’s been perfect weather conditions for them and so we aren’t the only ones struggling. Just hoping I’m on top of it now as I am £100 down on flea bombs and sprays and treatments and it wasn’t much fun!

Don't forget to spray under large items of furniture, wardrobes, sofas, and even under your white goods in the kitchen.
Have you thought about under mattresses between them and base ?

We're going through this at the moment, my poor DC are getting bitten to pieces. I've treated the cats, sprayed the house with Indorex but it doesn't seem to be getting better. I read the fleamaggedon story too, I just want to cry. I'm hoovering everyday!

  1. Get flea treatment from the vet. It's a tad more expensive than frontline, bob Martin ect but it works. Fleas can grow resilient towards frontline.
  1. Vacuum the entire house, furnishings and all and then make sure to change the vacuum bag immediately. Spray everything and everywhere with indorex spray. Make sure you spray house at least once a year for protection.

Our fleas became immune to Frontline. I think I use advantage or something now. Its from Pets at Home but its not Frintline.

Indorex in the house as well as hoover, hoover, hoover and wash bedding etc on hot wash.
