How to tell friend of ds he can’t come on holiday with us?

I am going away for three nights with two of my dc tomorrow. A friend of one of them keeps on asking my older ds if he can come too - keeps on asking ds.

Ds not sure what to say without saying being rude - any suggestions?

Flabbergasted at you all handwringing and wondering how on earth to say no to this frankly bizarre request. Show your kids how to use the word no when it’s appropriate, and stop teaching them how to do a fluttering Mavis Riley impression.

@Sunandrainallconfusedhere Did you send your DC home along with DC's friend? Tell us more!!

Glad it's sorted. For next time, teach him how to say a nice no, where you agree with the emotion but not the request, e.g: 'It would be great if you could come too, but it's a family holiday so it's not possible this time. It's up to my mum not me and she says it's a family holiday.'

at 14 he is putting pressure on your son by asking again and again. Take the phone and tell him to back off. ffs. I get its not easy but think what its doing to your son. Doesn't really sound like a friend especially as your son still can't say no to him. Please be cautious of any other behaviour like this. maybe your ds can't say or doesn't notice what is happening.
