If you have an induction hob...?

We are having a new kitchen fitted next week, and will have an induction hob for the first time. If you have an induction hob, what pots and pans have you got and would you recommend them? Thanks

Ours are from dunelm and yes they're fine.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 30/07/2019 14:33

We have a very old John Lewis set, a Judge set and a couple of Ikea frying pans. Basically if you can stick a magnet on the bottom then you should be okay.

Be warned that things heat up really quickly on induction so when you start using it be sure to keep a close eye. It caught us out a fair few times before we got the hang of it.

Neff hob, got free pans with it, Shulte Ufer plus a Tefal frying pan which is induction friendly (not all Tefal are). Have found them excellent, 4 years on they look as new.

PancakeAndKeith · 30/07/2019 14:34

Just place marking as I’m thinking of changing to an induction soon

Ijustwanttoretire · 30/07/2019 14:36

Scoville pans - but you have to treat them right - got them in Asda

Soontobe60 · 30/07/2019 14:37

I got a set of prestige pandora with glass lids, paid about £50 for 4 pans. Then a couple of frying pans from the supermarket and a whistling kettle from Ikea as I didn't want an electric one.

Soontobe60 · 30/07/2019 14:38

Pandora??? I meant pans!

NannyR · 30/07/2019 14:39

I bought Ikea 365 stainless steel saucepans and circulon frying pans about seven years ago, they all work fine and still look great.

Fabuleuse · 30/07/2019 14:39

If you are near a big Sainsbury's, they have loads that are suitable and they are often on sale. My most used pan is a massive deep sided frying pan that was £9 (down from £27) in their sale. Also have some from IKEA that have been fine.

selfishcrab · 30/07/2019 14:39

I have Circulon, one of the only pans we could get years ago and 2 Le Crueset, all good.
DH has a business that includes catering in another country and he bought Asda pans ... they are really good!

sugarbum · 30/07/2019 14:39

My favourite are scoville neverstick. They are amazing.

ALemonyPea · 30/07/2019 14:39

We have IKEA ones and never had any issues.

SeaEagle21 · 30/07/2019 14:39

Most flat-bottomed pans will be fine . Test them with a magnet and if it sticks, you're fine. If you're buying new ones there is normally a tag on them which says if they are OK for induction.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/07/2019 14:40

All our old pans worked fine, but just came on to say I love our induction hob and everyone should get them!

BarbaraofSeville · 30/07/2019 14:41

We just carried on using our old fairly standard Tefal saucepans but had to buy new frying pans. We got them from Ikea, probably middle of their range cost wise, but fairly cheap and they're decent pans.

I also now have one of the Scoville pans from Asda, which I really like and I don't know what Ijust means by treating it right, but I just use it as a pan and stick it in the dishwasher afterwards and it's like new after a year or two's regular use and it was cheap, so I'm happy enough.

I know it makes me a terrible person, but I'm perfectly happy with cheapish but decent cooking equipment that I can put in the dishwasher without worrying and replace after a few years if necessary, rather than spend ££££s on 'investment pieces' that would have to be passed onto my non existent grandchildren in order to break even cost wise.

jenniuol · 30/07/2019 14:47

We have circulon pans and they’re great. I got them in Costco but have seen them in tkmaxx for very reasonable prices.

amusedbush · 30/07/2019 14:50

We are fitting a new kitchen and I've just discovered induction hobs. I've been watching videos about them on YouTube and honestly, my mind has been blown by them BlushGrin

SavoyCabbage · 30/07/2019 14:56

I took a fridge magnet to TKmaxx and got some from there. Mine are Bergner.

Jojobythesea · 30/07/2019 14:57

Just got an induction and love it. I just got all my pans from a IKEA and they are fab. Really good value and work brilliantly 👍👍

perhapstomorrow · 30/07/2019 15:11

Love my induction hob as it gives you great control and is so easy to clean. I use Meyer stainless steel pans that I've had for years and also a recent purchase of Green Pan non-stick frying pans.

BustedDreams · 30/07/2019 15:44

Induction is great to get instant heat and cool down, also great to keep clean. A quick wipe is all it needs. However, rubbish to heat up milk, still not managed it without burning the blummin pan.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 30/07/2019 15:48

If you're buying new ones there is normally a tag on them which says if they are OK for induction

Be warned I've been caught out a couple of times by shops like Home Bargains and Home Sense where they claim to be suitable for induction but they don't work. (The hob doesn't 'see' them). Really annoying! Especially as it's a 40-mile round trip to return them!

I also had a free set with a Neff cooker. But I got a great wok the other day from Amazon.

MaisyMary77 · 30/07/2019 15:54

Circulon Infinite pans. They’re really good. I’ve also got a 2.5l pykal stove top kettle-boils quicker than my plug in kettle.

Roussette · 30/07/2019 15:54

TK Maxx have great quality different make pans with lots suitable for induction.

Also Le Creuset works on induction too... there is nothing like a steak cooked in a Le Creuset cast iron ridged grill pan on the induction hob

sheshootssheimplores · 30/07/2019 15:55

We got ours free with the kitchen but you can induction pans all over the place now. Aldi/Lidl had a deal on them recently.
