Same for me. I was keen to take part as in a couple weeks we will once again begin The Great Dr Marten Campaign

Soola · 29/07/2019 22:39

I call them trainers and not shoes because of the rubber sole.

ZenNudist · 29/07/2019 22:39

Shoes. Nice.

LIZS · 29/07/2019 22:39

Trainers. Shoes are not entirely flat, with a shaped heel.

TreacherousPissFlap · 29/07/2019 22:40

Oh, is that them they're hideous ?

I'm afraid I would say trainer, also patent wouldn't be allowed at school here.

GymKitJen · 29/07/2019 22:40

We have these as an alternative

Trainers, it’s the flatform sole

LIZS · 29/07/2019 22:43

Still trainers

GymKitJen · 29/07/2019 22:47

The dms are still trainers LIZS?

The amount of lacing and sole makes them both look like trainers. They would not be acceptable at our school. And not allowed patent leather anyway.

Heismyopendoor · 29/07/2019 22:52

First ones are definitely trainers. The second ones confuse me. The top part looks like a trainer but the sole clearly isn’t??

LolaSmiles · 29/07/2019 22:54

First ones are trainers.

As a general principle, if you're asking the question then they're probably not proper school shoes and would be borderline at best.

polkadotpixie · 29/07/2019 23:10

I used to work for Schuh and the item code is for shoes rather than trainers if that helps!

MummyDummyNow · 29/07/2019 23:12

Both look like trainers to me.

LolaSmiles · 29/07/2019 23:13

What the shops say vs what they are often differ.

Many uniform arguments I've seen have been centred around 'but the shop had them in the school section', as if leggings trousers for a uniform that says no leggings was ever going to be anything other than a big fat no from school.

One year I saw a white so called 'school shirt' with no collar and peplum detailing over the hips. They had the age from ks2-3. It's not a school shirt.

LolaSmiles · 29/07/2019 23:15

I should add, it suits shops to categorise fashionable borderline items (or even not uniform items) in the school section because they rely on a few things to secure a purchase:

  1. Pester power and claims that everyone else will have
  2. Parents thinking if it's in the uniform section then it'll probably be ok

Shops aren't bothered about if what they're selling is school uniform. They just want to push stock and make money any way they can.

BikeRunSki · 29/07/2019 23:32

The DMs are still trainers, I think it’s all in the sole and the wide laces. Might get them for me though!

NiLunNiLautre · 30/07/2019 01:12

My DD has those exact shoes for school (the Kickers patent ones). No one's complained to us yet!

MummyMcCracken · 30/07/2019 01:14

Shoes

pollywollydoodler · 30/07/2019 01:35

Shoes. Those would be ok at dds school

GymKitJen · 30/07/2019 06:24

Ha! Knew i was right.

Not Only am I going down the 'theyre not compliant with school uniform policy route' but also the you have to walk a mile in them in winter and therefore your feet need to be warm and dry.

fantasmasgoria1 · 30/07/2019 07:04

I see many kids where I live walking home and many have the shoes/trainers you have shown. In fact it was mainly those or actual trainers, only a small amount wear shoes!

LIZS · 30/07/2019 08:15

Yes the dms are trainers.
