If you want a no deal brexit-what does no deal mean to you?

Following on from another thread asking if you voted leave then do you want no deal? Plenty of posters do want no deal but I'm wondering what they understand no deal to actually mean for the UK? What does a no deal look like both immediately and a few months, then years down the line? How would it pan out? How would business, health, and education benefit (if you think they will)?

Please don't turn this into a Leavers vs remainers thread. I'm just interested in the questions I've asked regarding what no deal actually means for the Uk.

Yes, NI bloody well was discussed before the vote - two former prime ministers joined forces to discuss it. Theresa May discussed it.

Why did people vote when they’d paid no attention at all?

Nobody has said it wasn't discussed at all, just not enough

InTheHeatofLisbon · 30/07/2019 12:36

AyeToIndy attempts to discuss it were shut down and dismissed as project fear.

In my local area (Lanarkshire) it was discussed, loudly, probably because we have major issues with sectarian violence so on a tiny scale understand how complex NI politics are.

I remember Major and Blair in Derry discussing the impact Brexit would have, that was on Sky news in 2016.

Many Scottish and NIrish MPs tried to raise it.

It was shut down by Faridge because he knew it was the weakest bit of the fantasy. And that didn't give enough people pause for thought. It didn't make people research the point themselves. Speaks volumes.

Well, that went well and was so informative Grin one could be forgiven for thinking that not one leaver knows what no deal is despite saying they want it and voted for it, and have no idea how it will affect anyone Confused Or maybe just not prepared to admit it.

Now we do agree on that!

QED.

longwayoff · 30/07/2019 19:18

Well done Wales, not so keen on Bozza after all. So he's pissed off all 3 of our union partners and NI too, plus currency markets yet England's proud to call him PM . Something's awry.

RoarkesMagicCoats · 31/07/2019 14:38

One last shameless bump to see if I get just one answer Grin

On the subject of Scottish independence, I believe the last poll shows No just in the lead so doubt Sturgeon will be pushing for a referendum until there's a clear Yes majority.

Where did they poll? The Midlands?

Because the last 3 have shown support for Indy 2 rising. Seems your crystal ball really is in for a service eh?

I'm looking forward to the SNP getting a new leader. They've had Salmon(d) and Sturgeon, so I'm placing my money on Haddock or Plaice

Aye very witty.

Johnson is cock in American slang. Far, far more fitting.

RoarkesMagicCoats · 31/07/2019 15:15

Well at least you admit you want no deal but have no idea what that actually is.

I'm not sure your piss take re Scotland is called for.

Oh and NS emailed all SNP members setting out her plans to push for Indy 2 on the day that waste of organs was announced as PM. Petition hit 250,000 within hours of the email.

Doesn't need a service love, it needs replacing.

It's appreciated, not often the anti Scottish shit is picked up on here.

Now regretting responding in kind Blush

RoarkesMagicCoats · 31/07/2019 15:36

InTheHeatofLisbon I appreciate your view that although you voted remain that you are trying to find a silver lining for Scotland in the brexit clusterfuck. Posters like SilverySurfer voted to leave and are happy to admit they have no idea what exactly they voted for beyond "leave" and they don't care who gets thrown under the bus in the process.
I watched a fair bit of the debates going on around the big votes for the WA and amendments and admired the SNP MPs for actually giving a shit and not being hell bent on the destructive brexit path. I found myself wishing that my MP had their passion and care for their constituents.

RoarkesMagicCoats thank you and fwiw I've said repeatedly this is the last resort. Until very recently I'd have said I'd choose stopping brexit over independence and I meant it. I desperately don't want to see England and Wales suffer as a whole, and I don't want people in England and Wales to have to bear the brunt of decisions they never made. It's horrible.

Most of the SNP MPs are pretty good, definitely passionate and determined! My own local MP and one from my old local area are particularly good, and genuinely give a shit.

I hope that in the event of a GE that the Lib Dems make major gains, or that Labour becomes something like what it once was.

I want independence now more than ever because I have to think of the future for my children. I take absolutely no pleasure (quite the opposite in fact) in the fact that that means letting England, Wales and NI (although I do think reunification will happen within a century) go without us, but really it feels like we've been left with no option.

SilverySurfer · 31/07/2019 15:46

I got my info re the poll from here: yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2019/04/27/scottish-independence-yes-vote-climbs-49

It was a joke and in no way intended as a piss take re Scotland. I have Scottish friends and love visiting there, not forgetting my favourite alcoholic drink.

You've seemingly have had a sense of humour bypass.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 31/07/2019 15:59

SilverySurfer did you honestly expect me to believe a poll on the .gov site?

It's the UK bloody government site, hardly famed for truth or transparency when it comes to Scotland.

I live here, I see the polls, I see the marches, I see the conversations being had all over Scotland.

So you can have your little links, I'll stick with actually being here and guaging the mood from that, and from non biased media and polls thanks.

I have Scottish friends

HOUSE! Oh wait, were we playing bigot bingo?
