It is nearly midnight & it's 34 fucking degrees in my bedroom!

I cannot sleep. It's an ungodly 34 degrees in my bedroom. All the windows are wide open across the house but there isn't a breath of air to be had. I'm trying to keep cool by regularly squirting myself with cold water. I tried sleeping in a different room - right under the window but it didn't help. I am sick to death of this. I have a really important day tomorrow & I'm thinking I might have to cancel as this will be my 3rd night without sleep unless I can manage to nod off soon. Angry - boiling!

Premium version of the hot water bottle tip:

  • leave cover on
  • put some cold water in bottle (not full)
  • take 2 reusable freezer ice packs
  • wrap individually in plastic bags
  • put one on each side of the bottle inside the cover
It’s heaven.

I’ve got two fans going and I’ve just stuck my head under the shower! I’m still hot and bothered. 😓

Ilikewinter · 26/07/2019 00:27

Im also spending night 3 on the sofa, thermostate in the hall shows 28.5, dread to think what upstairs is but its unbearable.....however DH seems to be asleep in a starfish shape across the middle of the bed.

The much anticipated rain came at 11pm and had stopped by 11.03pm 😢.
Seriously hoping that out theres a drop in temperature tomorrow

Cosentyx · 26/07/2019 00:28

Get a portable A/C. It's worth its weight in gold.

TeapotofTerror · 26/07/2019 00:29

My situation would be vastly improved by not having a furry cat clamped to me whichever way I turn.
It's great that she loves me but it's fucking boiling, give me some space!

MitziK · 26/07/2019 00:37

Well, it's dropped to 32 degrees.

Prickfeatures has turned over in his sleep, slammed a pillow into the side of my face and is now FUCKING TRYING TO FUCKING CUDDLE UP AGAINST ME WITH THE FUCKING QUILT OVER US.

And he's still snoring.

I've got to kill him, haven't I?

Sobeyondthehills · 26/07/2019 00:44

My bedroom is the only cool place in my flat, well till the dog and 2 cats realise where I have gone and come and join me

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 26/07/2019 00:52

My pillow is the hottest thing in our house right now. I. Need. Sleep.

florentina1 · 26/07/2019 00:53

Yup same here

belleshelles · 26/07/2019 00:57

I can't fucking wait till this heatwave is over. Have dealt with a grumpy, sweaty toddler all day and now DP is fast asleep snoring his head off. I'm sat here drowning in sweat, I was just want to go to sleep omg I could crrryyy.

yolofish · 26/07/2019 00:59

I cant actually see the point of going to bed at the moment, it just means sweating in a different place? I have Wine with ice in, think I'll just hang about a bit longer, go outside to see if the pathetic storm and 3 mins of rain we have had have made any sort of difference. It is Officially Too Hot.

Beekaye · 26/07/2019 00:59

Looking at the weather it's only about 22 outside now, yet my house hasn't cooled down at all. If my neighbours weren't having a loud conversation in their garden I'd be tempted to sleep outside. Very jealous of DH who's fast asleep already

ChristOnAScooter · 26/07/2019 02:37

Oh I'm laid in bed at 02.40 on MumsNet wishing it would thunder!

ChristOnAScooter · 26/07/2019 02:42

Haha @MitziK you have been proper on one today! 😂😂

DaftTwatCat1 and 2 😂😂

Still laughing about your cat post from

OkPedro · 26/07/2019 02:45

I put a wet (not soaking) face cloth on the back of my neck for nights like that. Always works for me
