SO fucked off with work situation

Will try to keep this as vague as possible.

Very young girl, basic admin job, shagging very senior manager (married).

Today we all get an email that she will be “acting up” in a manger role for the foreseeable. This is not office gossip, she was very vocal to a few other admin girls that they were shagging and I’d say about 25% of our department know.

She came in this morning dressed like she was going into an executive board meeting for a Fortune 500 company.

I’m utterly utterly fucked off with hearing about people getting jobs and being promoted for shagging the managers. How are these men still in a job!! HOW?!

I’m going to end up being sacked or walking out, I cannot take orders from someone with very basic admin knowledge of our department I just fucking can’t Angry. She came into our office earlier to ask if she could take our fan as it was needed in her office Shock. A fan owned by a staff member. God this is just going to be the start of it

How could she even take the job knowing that everyone knows she only got it because she's shagging the boss??

The only consolation is that she'll be sacked when his wife finds out or he gets bored, whichever is sooner.

When I went into the public sector local government was amazed at how many were at it like rabbits, managers and the young girls. My own boss tried it on with me cheeky bugger he was 20 odd years older than me and no oil painting. I had to be very careful as to how I rejected him.

Whistleblow anonymously. They have to investigate and it keeps your name out of it.

They are not girls, they are women.

NHS have whistleblowing policies and in some trusts specific staff/guardians you can raise concerns with that aren't management and can be anonymous

You need to bear in mind that the young girl has been manipulated or groomed to some degree ( most likely ) . It will be hard not to hate her but it’s that man that needs to be reigned in.

I worked in the NHS for 20 years. It wasn’t affairs that I came across but cliques of women. If you socialised and drank with the boss and were in the ‘in crowd’ you got the best jobs. Also any complaints or sub standard work was ignored. If you weren’t you were treated like shit, either ignored or micro managed. It was awful.

Putting secondments out on the intranet for less than a day was a common trick. Ingot sock of being told how lucky I was to have such a great manager. She did a cracking job of bamboozling the higher ups. Last I heard she was in one of the more senior jobs herself.

If a very large company you will have a whistleblower policy and process through which you can raise your concerns, by name or anonymously. This will go to directly to a number of very senior colleagues, named in the process, to be reviewed, investigated and actioned.

Employers cannot ignore it. If you raise concerns in this way you will also be protected from retaliatory action (victimisation) from any parties so long as your concerns are genuine.

I’d report it, but you will need people to be prepared to be honest when interviewed and say what is going on.

All part of why the NHS is going to rack and ruin and no suprise to anyone who has worked anywhere but the best Trusts. The whistleblowing services and National Guardian office are toothless. If you raise this you will probably be bullied out in one way or another unless there's someone waiting to do a power grab who can use it. You could put in a report here, they are more interested in actual theft etc I think but it's something at least cfa.nhs.uk/ - NHS Counter Fraud Service

@Flopt not in my experience! Many young women are determined to climb the ladder or to marry someone wealthy and they are hard, ruthless and cold except when they need to make ‘friends’ or speak to those higher up and then they will be as sweet as a fragrant rose.

I worked in banking and finance for many years and my husband is a Banker and the girls will stop at nothing to power through the ranks.

They may appear dumb and perhaps in someways they are but they are highly skilled at being manipulative and getting others to do the work but they take the praise.

I would ride it out for a bit op, she my make a mistake or you may find yourself in a position to manipulate her if she ever needs your help then you can trip her up.

As it is NHS I wouldn't bother going through HR. It will just mark OPs card Sad Angry

HR will say that when the woman in question was recruited, she showed a lot of potential and was recruited on the understanding she would get the opportunity to "act up" or have a secondment as soon as possible.

In your position I would go straight to the wife.

Though if only her head roles that is less of a consolation. I’ve seen that happen before in a very similar situation, the junior member of staff pays the price with their job and the senior member of staff is Teflon coated despite their misdemeanour being greater.

Even if no sex involved young women seems to have much more advantage than older women. I can see so well in my own team.

Has anyone who has said to get HR involved have any experience of attempting to whistleblow in the NHS? You've seen the headline stories of staff forced out, it hasn't gone away, indeed, all these so called protections like the Whistelblowing Helpline and the Guardian Service seem to just lull potential whistleblowers into a false sense of security and what they've really done is put a spotlight on their head to be later bullied out.

What makes it particularly sick in the NHS is that the sort of dynamic that the OP is posting about damages care and productivity - in a commerical company at least someone is looking at the bottom line sooner or later but in the NHS sadly the perpetrators hide behind cuts etc to blame the poor performance.
