I mean proper, splashing in the sea, kids in swimsuits beach weather not fleeces huddling against the wind Grin it is to be 21 by the sea in Essex this Friday and I was going to take the DC before the school holidays start properly.

Anything above about 15 - but I'm one of those hardy souls who will always go for a quick dip if I get the chance, even if its April and raining! In, out, woolly jumper and a hot chocolate, nothing better imo.

For us to have an actual ‘beach day’ where we will aim to spend most of the day there, about 25 degrees.
Anything other than that is miserable - sea is freezing (talking about the UK), always windy, just hate it.
To go to the beach for a walk and mess about, any temperature. Wrap up warm, go rock pooling, scramble up sand dunes, skim stones and then warm up in a pub with fish and chips.
On holiday when the weather is consistently warm, every day can be a beach day.

21 is fine for beach and swimming in the sea IMO, providing it’s sunny and there’s no (or very little) wind.

21-23 for us, any hotter is too hot for sitting out in for any length of time. A nice breeze is essential.

We never stay for the whole day though, a couple of hours is always long enough and we would probably only do that twice in a week's holiday.

22 ish if no wind. If windy, more like 25+

That's for swimming.

20°-25°, anything less is too cold anything more is too hot to be out.

orangeshoebox · 17/07/2019 17:11

when I lived far away from the sea and had to make an effort 25+ with everyone else having the same idea
now that we live very close to the most amazing beach we are there every weekend.
but still sunbathing/swimming 25+

It depends on sea temperature as well though. I’ve been on beaches in Portugal and the Dominican Republic, both about 28 degrees on land, both the Atlantic, both felt boiling on the beach. very different story in the water! One felt pleasantly warm and you could loll around in the shallows for hours without getting cold. The other was strictly a run-in-run-out job.
