Any idea what this is on DP’s leg?

It just doesn’t seem to be healing, it’s been there for a while and then flared up recently. Doesn’t seem to be a boil and he is reluctant to see the pharmacist.

Looks like an infected hair follicle possibly from an ingrown hair

Malibucyprus · 09/07/2019 21:20

Have you tried squeezing it?

Holenewme · 09/07/2019 21:21

Squeeze it now and tell us what happens. Film it if at all possible.

LoafofSellotape · 09/07/2019 21:22

Squeeze it fgs!!!!

RightMover · 09/07/2019 21:23

Oh yeah I would have to squeeze that!

FloatingthroughSpace · 09/07/2019 21:23

My dh had something not dissimilar for about 15 years. Turned out to be some sort of benign tumor.

MacInTheBox · 09/07/2019 21:23

Squeeeeeeeze it...

Teacakeandalatte · 09/07/2019 21:24

Eww you dirty sporners get back to your corner!

Outsomnia · 09/07/2019 21:24

Why ask us? seriously. You must know that it looks suspiciously like a mole. But it might be an ingrown hair who knows.

Go to a doctor. We are not doctors. Am very sorry to be so blunt, but it needs to be checked out. For reassurance if nothing else. It is the only way you and he will know at the end of the day really. The redness surrounding the lump would have me straight off to the doc for starters!

Wish you well.

Readytogogogo · 09/07/2019 21:25

If it's not healing he needs to see a doctor.

Mitebiteatnite · 09/07/2019 21:27

How long has he had it OP? I'd get that checked by a GP. Without being dramatic, it looks suspiciously like a squamous cell carcinoma. If it's been there for more than a few weeks with no improvement, to the GP he must go.

sneakypinky · 09/07/2019 21:28

Squeeze it.

And film it.

Mitebiteatnite · 09/07/2019 21:29

Pic from google

TheWitchwithNoName · 09/07/2019 21:30

He did have a dig around and got what looked like a thin scab out of it. Couldn’t see any hair in there though. Would mag sulphate help?

OP posts:
FelixFelicis6 · 09/07/2019 21:30

Yes, I would go to GP.

MollyHuaCha · 09/07/2019 21:31

Do not squeeze it.

Mitebiteatnite · 09/07/2019 21:32

DO NOT let him dig or poke anymore. Make a GP appt.

OpenYourEyes · 09/07/2019 21:32

Oh I was going to say squeeze it but now I am firmly on the side of GP - tomorrow!

Celebelly · 09/07/2019 21:32

I'd tell him to see GP after seeing that picture posted by PP. Better safe than sorry.

Holenewme · 09/07/2019 21:33

Oh shit. Ignore me, don’t squeeze it and tell him to go to the gp.

TheWitchwithNoName · 09/07/2019 21:36

It didn’t have the crusty top until he dug around in it. Still best off getting it checked and then and no mag sulphate.

OP posts:
Sammy867 · 09/07/2019 21:36

potentially a dermatofibroma thats become infected? but id get it checked as it looks very inflamed and dermatofibromas don't change so you need to rule out nasty skin lump causes

Poirotspen · 09/07/2019 21:37

He does need to go to GP. It's likely to need removing, going by that picture but don't panic it looks like the sort of problem that will be solved with excision. Flowers

Mitebiteatnite · 09/07/2019 21:38

Yeah I'd skip the mag sulph tbh. Best case scenario it's something totally benign but better to get it looked at. Is your DP fair haired/skinned?

sleepyhead · 09/07/2019 21:46

My dad had something that looked not dissimilar and it turned out to be melanoma. He now has a 6 inch scar on his leg - but at least is alive, so far.

It's not always darkly pigmented, especially if like my dad you're very fair skinned.

It's probably not. Much more likely to be squamous cell or something benign, but please, please get him to see a doctor.
