Just idly wondering how many women can. I’ve been pretty fit in other ways but they’ve always eluded me!

So I have to do them on my knees

TMI derail...

Does this....errr...do things to anyone else? Blush They tried to make us do them at my fitness class and Ive never been so embarrassed.

TheGirlWhoLived · 07/07/2019 22:07

Yeah I can do.... maybe 5? I am fairly good at yoga now mind 😁

MrsJBaptiste · 07/07/2019 22:14

Yes, I can do 3 x 10 sets of press ups.

Rystall · 07/07/2019 22:16

@Thisnamechanger

Go on...... 🤔

Rystall · 07/07/2019 22:17

@waterSpider

Thanks for the tips. I’m going to try your method tomorrow!

AuntieStella · 07/07/2019 22:18

I can't do full ones.

I can do lots standing/wall ones, I can do them from my knees, I can plank (in various positions) for a respectable time. But I've never quite managed normal press ups.

I'm intrigued, what does it do?

GymKitJen · 07/07/2019 22:31

5x 😇

Passthecake30 · 07/07/2019 22:55

None. I have feeble scrawny arms that can't take my weight. It hurts just doing a box press up Blush

Thisnamechanger · 08/07/2019 17:15

If you're a complete weirdo like me it gives you an orgasm. Blush

Same with straddle leg ripe climbs. Also I know for a fact that one isn't just me and it's called a "coregasm" because I used to teach a class where we did it and a least a couple of people each class would suddenly look a mixture of surprised and panicky when we did them.

As I said, TMI derail!!

Thisnamechanger · 08/07/2019 17:15

Ffs, rope not ripe

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 08/07/2019 17:21

Nope. I've recently realised how weak I am, so I'm trying to build up to doing one.

PippiDeLena · 08/07/2019 19:04

Thisnamechanger Shock Wow I've never heard of that. I wish it happened to me; I'd be so fit!

lljkk · 08/07/2019 20:30

Never could do push ups / planks / pull ups / cartwheel / head-hand stand.
Nowadays my shoulders are too messed up to even try any of those.
I'm very proud of lots other physical stuff I can do.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/07/2019 21:28

No, because I'm old and weak as water, but a good tip I learned in Pilates was to start by doing them against a wall from a vertical position. You aren't fighting gravity that way. You can build up your strength by standing further and further away from the wall.

FenellaMaxwell · 08/07/2019 21:32

Yes. No idea how as I’m spectacularly unfit.

Julietee · 08/07/2019 21:33

Yes, and I can do them with a band over my back or a weight plate on.
But I strength train regularly and can bench 60kgs.

LizziesTwin · 08/07/2019 21:37

I can do 50 off my toes and am over 50. I can also hold a plank for 8 minutes, as can DD1, hence my trying. I’ve only ever been able to do unassisted 4 pull ups.

Camomila · 08/07/2019 21:50

I can probably do 2 or 3 before collapsing.

I'm good at cartwheels though and can still do them one-handed.

DottieLottie1 · 08/07/2019 22:27

I thought this was going to be a thread about bras Hmm

megletthesecond · 08/07/2019 22:29

Yes. About 20 "man" push ups.
I'm a skinny bookmark but have decent strength, years of martial arts and yoga gave me good technique.

Ohdearthefootball · 09/07/2019 09:26

Should you just start off doing one a day then two next day etc?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2019 17:43

We do this little treat at circuits, it's considerably harder than it looks. Check out the guy at the front doing them on his clenched fists

Press-up wankers

girlinabluedressagain · 09/07/2019 17:53

Yes, anyone can do them if they do exercises to increase upper body strength.

lljkk · 09/07/2019 18:47

My shoulders don't have arthritis, says the GP, but they chronically hurt anyway. I wouldn't risk something like a pushup. Am pretty sure any PT would refuse to let me try.
