you could try bride2bride, i haven't sold on there but may be worth a try. if you can't find a buyer, Scope Charity Shops take wedding dresses x

HerRoyalNotness · 06/07/2019 18:21

If you don’t need the money for it could you consider donating to the charity that makes burial gowns for wee babies?

NoBaggyPants · 06/07/2019 18:25

If no one wants it then the price is too high.

The charity suggestion is excellent.

Wrong time of yr to sell? Summer weddings would have purchased by now? Maybe try reselling in a couple if months?

jennymanara · 06/07/2019 18:28

I suspect those buying second hand wedding dresses will be pretty skint. Are you selling it at a realistic price?

anypossibleway · 06/07/2019 18:28

Second hand wedding dresses hardly go for any money. Maybe yours is too expressive?

Readytogogogo · 06/07/2019 18:29

How much was it new and how much are you trying to sell it for?

Ninkaninus · 06/07/2019 18:30

eBay. Or a dress agency?

TrumpIsTheBiggestIdiot · 06/07/2019 18:47

MIL tried selling hers for £££'s, because she had paid £X for it.
It was very dated early 90's, honestly the sort you might use for fancy dress or making into a cool Halloween costume.
I had to gently explain to her that fashions had moved on and she might be better off donating it.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 06/07/2019 18:48

How old is the dress? Is it no longer fashionable? What % of the original price are you trying to sell it for?

Fatted · 06/07/2019 18:49

People don't like buying second hand wedding dresses. This is why I never bothered selling mine.

Spanielmadness · 06/07/2019 18:52

I paid £400 for my second hand dress. Retailed at £2,000

EtonM3ss · 06/07/2019 18:56

its 2016 so still in fashion. Bought for £1200 trying to sell for 400

OP posts:
crisscrosscranky · 06/07/2019 18:57

It's too expensive- you should expect £100 max.

cookielove · 06/07/2019 18:58

Link it?

whitehalleve · 06/07/2019 18:58

Yep it's too expensive. Half that at the most.

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 06/07/2019 18:58

For £400 you can buy many different styles of new wedding dresses. It’s too high a price for a dress that doesn’t retail for ££££

EgremontRusset · 06/07/2019 18:59

Mine retailed at 1600, I bought it 2nd hand for 180

EmmaGrundyForPM · 06/07/2019 19:00

Did you consider buying a second hand wedding dress when you were choosing yours? Because most brides don't. As a pp said, the ones who do are those who are usually on a very restricted budget.

Why not donate it?

Isthebigwomanhere · 06/07/2019 19:00

Honestly it's to expensive
You should realistically get £100

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 06/07/2019 19:03

Yep, I got married, dress cost £1200 and couldn't sell it for £150 after. Ends up in Oxfam bridal shop eventually.

EtonM3ss · 06/07/2019 19:04

If i ever get married again ill get second hand the whole thing was a waste of money Grin

OP posts:
jennymanara · 06/07/2019 19:04

Yes nearly all brides buy new. Most brides want to have a very wide choice of dresses and not wear a dress worn by another bride. The only bride I knew who bought second hand was seriously skint so looking for a major bargain. I am sure OP that what wedding dresses actually sell for seems far too cheap. But this is because there really is not much of a market for a second hand wedding dress.

Billballbaggins · 06/07/2019 19:05

I bought one for £100 on eBay that was £1200 retail - it still had the tags on. You asking for £400 is a bit steep I think, sorry.

Sagradafamiliar · 06/07/2019 19:10

Have you listed it under the exact style and designer as it was in the shop? Often people try on dresses in store, then look for the favourite on FB selling groups or EBay (shop owners go mad about it unsurprisingly).
