How to remove a security tag

I got some jeans from uniqlo online and just went to wear them and stupid security tag is left on . I can return them to get it removed eventually but is there a way to do it myself and not have to lug them to London. ?

This happened to me with a dress, DH and I were staying in a hotel. No chance of returning and I had nothing else to wear. Between us we smashed it off with a shoe!

Top man left a security tag on a gift once, I just pulled with all might and came off pretty easily, also tried it with Sainsbury’s bottle of whiskey and it worked.

nancy75 · 02/07/2019 19:29

Not any shop can remove it - different tags have different de-taggers

GetUpAgain · 02/07/2019 19:33

I had this with something from H&M, very kind person at Sainsbury's used their untagger which was compatible and released it. When their manager wasn't looking because apparently they are not actually allowed to do this even if you have proof of purchase.

This happened to me once. I used a lighter to melt a hole in the plastic and a little spring popped out. It then came open.

2 teaspoons!

DontTouchMyCurls · 02/07/2019 19:37

Ooo. Great thread. I bought some exercise legging things from Tesco just before Christmas then broke my toe on Boxing Day. Lay unworn for a few months, receipt long gone... Went to put them on once I 2as fully healed and noticed the tag still on them! They've sat like that for several months now...

Gulsink · 02/07/2019 19:42

Flat head screwdriver and twist. Might work with a knife or spoon.

SlowLiving · 02/07/2019 19:45

I am sure there are plenty of people who will get it off for you. Vicky Pollards.....

Basic security tags, smash with a hammer

ememem84 · 02/07/2019 19:46

I’ve had the tags left on a bra before. Smashed it with a hammer. Black bra and I did it outside. So in the event it was filled with ink it wouldn’t have gone everywhere or ruined the item.

ememem84 · 02/07/2019 19:47

It just took a couple of wallops.

nespressowoo · 02/07/2019 20:11

Another vote for smash with a hammer. If it's filled with ink, freeze it.

nitgel · 02/07/2019 22:20

I'll try wallopping it Grin

You tube will have loads of videos for every type of tag

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 02/07/2019 22:29

We’d do it where I work if you had proof of purchase, or at least give it a go for but like pp said not all shops have compatible detaggers

Gertie75 · 02/07/2019 22:52

Squeeze it in a vice, it'll crack apart easily.

Gulsink · 02/07/2019 23:07

Oh, hang on.... Sex lube and a fish slice?

Soola · 02/07/2019 23:18

Leave it on and paint it with glitter and it will look like it’s meant to be there.

LaMontser · 02/07/2019 23:22

Two forks. One under each side of the tag - this shape ...)( and twist. I’ve done this and it works.

foodiefil · 03/07/2019 14:04

@Biancadelrioisback oui Smile

goingtotown · 03/07/2019 16:33

Order another pair online, then send the tagged ones back.
