nitgel · 02/07/2019 18:38

I got some jeans from uniqlo online and just went to wear them and stupid security tag is left on . I can return them to get it removed eventually but is there a way to do it myself and not have to lug them to London. ?

Magnets should do the trick I think?

Biancadelrioisback · 02/07/2019 18:41

You used to be able to do it with a lighter but I'm sure they're more advanced now...

But any shop can do it yknow

Tigerbandage · 02/07/2019 18:42

Is it an ink filled tag or just a basic grey plastic one?
I ordered a top from Superdry and the same thing happened
It was just a basic grey tag, I smashed it with the hammer, cane off easily
Don’t do that if it’s got ink in it though!

Tigerbandage · 02/07/2019 18:42

*came off easily

bookmum08 · 02/07/2019 18:42

Magnet.

Tigerbandage · 02/07/2019 18:43

I tried a magnet and it didn’t work, unless you’ve got a mega strong magnet

Sinn · 02/07/2019 18:43

You need a really really strong magnet

nancy75 · 02/07/2019 18:44

If it’s not ink filled just hit it with a hammer

DNAwrangler · 02/07/2019 18:44

Come off it, you can't start a thread asking how to remove security tags. The whole point of them is that they are not easily removed.

RezCowgirl · 02/07/2019 18:46

YouTube it

nitgel · 02/07/2019 18:50

It's a grey one what ones have ink

Contact uniqlo and ask them.

foodiefil · 02/07/2019 18:51

When I worked for a department store (family owned, green branding, not the one you immediately think of) they told us a story in training of a woman who tried to remove an ink filled tag and got it on her bedding and carpet which they replaced but they said that if she had rang the store a manager would have driven to her house and removed it.

Doubt that would happen with Uniqlo just thought it was worth sharing 🙂

foodiefil · 02/07/2019 18:51

You'd be able to see the ink usualllyyyy

ratspeaker · 02/07/2019 18:51

Another saying youtube or google.

I got a tag off using an elastic band around the stalk. (Expensive coat which I had gift receipt for but I wasn't aboutto travel miles to ask the shop to remove the tag)

BobTheFishermansWife · 02/07/2019 18:52

But any shop can do it yknow

They're not allowed to do it without proof of purchase.

If it's a pin through use a hacksaw to cut through the metal.

nitgel · 02/07/2019 18:52

Wow! I doubt they will. Online it says take back to shop but want to avoid that really

Foodie Fenwick's?

katewhinesalot · 02/07/2019 18:54

Just take it to your closest shop and show them your receipt and ask them to remove it. Proves you aren't lying.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 02/07/2019 18:56

I had an ink one on a paid of trousers last weekend. DP tried pulling it apart, failed but no ink came out. Eventually we smashed off the round bit not the ink bit until it was just the head of the pin and just carefully wriggled it out. Hasn't left a hole or anything!

TheCaddyisaBaddie · 02/07/2019 19:01

You tube have lots of videos of how to do this.

FelixFelicis6 · 02/07/2019 19:04

Ha great thread for shoplifters!

Loyaultemelie · 02/07/2019 19:07

Put it in the freezer then use long nosed pliers! This worked for me twice once on something I bought from an outlet miles and miles away so couldn't get back to and once someone bought for dd2 as a gift

LazyDaisey · 02/07/2019 19:14

I had one left by a mistake in an outlet in the US while on holiday. There was a. regular department store of the same brand within 20 miles of us by the time we noticed, so we called and explained if they could remove it for us, as drive back to outlet store was over a 100 miles back now. They couldn’t remove it (well they eventually did but it took 4 different people and some tag remover in the staff bit of the store as they weren’t the same). And this was a store known for its “customer service” so they really went out of their way to help.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 02/07/2019 19:15

I took mine to a different shop and they removed it for me. I took the receipt and everything but they didn't even look at it
